Hello Nature Lovers !

title.jpg

I would like to cordially invite you to another great week of the Amazing Nature Contest. There were already so many excellent entries regarding how amazing nature is in the past episodes, thanks to all of you, but there is still so much more to see! ^^ To participate in the #amazingnature contest just write up a post and explain how amazing nature is for you personally ^^

What is the Purpose of the Contest ?

I am a huge nature-lover and really enjoy taking pictures of all the lovely things that surround me every day, no matter if plants, animals or landscapes. Hive to be a brilliant place to watch these while simultaneously reading and learning about nature from all over the world. There is such a diversity of great content, thanks to all of you, from different perspectives and out of various motivations. This contest attempts to collect all those beautiful snapshots and their amazing stories in a weekly compilation so that you all can benefit from the beauty that we are facing all the time, but so often are not able to appreciate in the modern and fast paced times we are living in.

#amazingnature is at home in the DNA-Discord, a organization run by people for the people, with the aim to foster and densify nature-appreciation in the blockchain. DNA is also the home of the #featheredfriends and the @fungilovers communities.

THIS WEEKS WINNERS

The winner of this weeks contest is @olgavita with her post about the Lake Vouliagmeni in the area of Eastern Attica in Greece. The water of the lake is enriched with minerals such as potassium, sodium, lithium, ammonium, calcium, iron, chlorine and iodine and many others and people are visiting the lake to treat illnesses or just to relax. The lake is connected with the sea through a tunnel inside one of its underground caves, so it has a mix of fresh and sea water and its water has a temperature between 22 to 29°C .. Thank you for the great visual tour ^^

The entry from @friendlymoose is about humpback whales. There was a time there there were over 5 million whales in the oceans, but at the moments they are only around 1.3 million left. Also their number is increasing slightly again, still about 10.000 whales are dying every year due to human behavior. These humpback whales are even known to for their contribution in absorbing 1% of all CO2 worldwide! They actually collect CO2 in their bodies and when they die they sink to the sea bottom taking it with them. A big whale gathers about 33 tons of CO2 in average. Apart from that it's their excrement that stimulates the growth of water plants and plankton which at their turn absorb CO2 and turn it into oxygen .. Thank you very much for this interesting and educational entry ^^

The entry from @brittandjosie is about some thick fog that she experienced while being on a walk with her dogs, showing to her a world is full of new sounds of new air and tranquility. Fog is basically a low-hanging cloud that consists of water droplets with a density of approximately one billion tiny water droplets per cubic meter. Fog can occur anywhere and the presence of water is not a prerequisite, but it is favored in colder and more moisture areas and appears more often during autumn and especially during winter. It usually disappears in the morning because it heats up. In winter, however, it does not warm up as quickly and the fog lingers longer, the famous morning gray .. Thank you for this great post about fog and for including some great explanations on its consistence and appearances :)

DNA - Densifying Nature-Appreciation :

IMG_20200208_120948.png

DNA is an organization to foster and DENSIFY NATURE-APPRECIATION which aims to establish REPORTS OF BIODIVERSITY DATA that is contributed by all of us Hiveans and subsequently cataloged.

Therefore DNA searches for HIGH-QUALITY posts that aim to DESCRIBE and determine the BIODIVERSITY AROUND YOU with added EXPLANATIONS and INFORMATION. For these informative posts they offer a CURATION SERVICE using the @dna.org account. It is also a CURATION TRAIL. Just add the #dna TAG if you think that any of your posts is what they are looking for.

At the moment DNA is also the home of the #amazingnature for all your post about the amazing nature all around us and also the home of the #featheredfriends hosted by the lovely @melinda010100 🦢 for all you great posts about our feathered friends and the #fungifriday hosted by the amazing @qwerrie 🍄 for all your posts about fungi and mushrooms ^^ But we hope that more nature related communities will join, or maybe some Hiveans start their own little project there ;) .. Maybe even you?

The Terminal & Discord :

There is another initiative here on Hive that I would like to bring close to you as I absolutely love them, The Terminal:

THE TERMINAL DISCORD

It is a great location for LEARNING ABOUT HIVE, Discord, and Hive-related communities, full of nice people that you may ask if you need ASSISTANCE, with nearly everything ^^ You will find documents to assist you, a place to learn and practice, and find out about the many opportunities to form CONNECTIONS with other Hiveans.

It host the REDFISH RALLY, a funny challenge for all those that are new here to the world of Hive. The Terminal also hosts the HEYHAVEYAMET project by @heyhaveyamet, which introduces all new Hiveans on a daily basis, so that you don't have to search for them ^^

THE TERMINAL COMMUNITY

So why not joining us in the THE TERMINAL DISCORD? You will not regret it ^^
