Yellow Perforate St John's-wort

Hypericum perforatum yellow wildflower 1.jpg

Here is a common little flower I shot a while ago. It had to spend it's time in a queue like any other.

Also known as Saint John's Wort or Perforate St John's-wort. It is a pretty one with those bright yellow flowers fur it is as weedy as weed can be! It can be found basically all over Europe so it is not very picky about climate.

The flowers are about 2 cm across and they form nice yellow clusters on top of the stems. Blooming time stats in late April and ends in the end of August with a peak in July.

I found this one growing on rather open space between some cork trees. The places is super hot and dry in the summer and the soil is very sandy. Nope... not picky at all. Very invasive too and generally not a nice plant. And apparently it can be very harmful if animals (cows for example) eat it.

Here is a little something I found while looking for the plant ID:

But please, not EVER pick any plant you are not sure of!
I just shoot them :)

Bonus shot:
I had a stalker :)
And I guess she knows not to eat the weed above.
