Mountain Rudnik, Serbia

Rudnik is the highest mountain in Šumadija, a region in Serbia. The highest peak of the Rudnik mountain is called Cvijićev peak and is located at 1,132 m.

The mountain was named Rudnik (literally: mine) because of the lead and zinc ore that is still exploited today. This recording was made on an ancient mining shaft, which is most likely of Roman origin, found on the slopes of the mountain. In addition to old mining shafts, remains of Roman temples and settlements were found.

Mount Rudnik is easily accessible and is a relatively easy mountain to hike. I have visited it many times by mountain bike, but this time we just walked along its slopes.
