Russia Moscow. Botanical Garden of Moscow State University "Aptekarskiy Ogorod"

Today I am participating in the weekly Tree Challenge. I have a photograph from the Moscow State University Botanical Garden "Aptekarskiy Ogorod", Moscow, Russia. Photo from the series - Wood. And this is an oak tree. This tree (oak) is more than 200 years old. It is located in the very center of the garden and everyone who comes here immediately sees it. A pyramidal petiolate oak was planted in 1805 (there is no exact date). This was done by the first director of the garden, Georg Franz Hoffmann, a professor of botany at the University of Göttingen. The oak has the status - Honored Plant of Russia. The oak is the symbol of the garden. Not far from the "Aptekarsky Ogorod" is the metro station "Prospekt Mira" (its former name "Botanical Garden"), it is decorated with bas-reliefs dedicated to the "Aptekarsky Ogorod". Usually petiolate oaks reach a height of 20-40 meters, and a tree can live up to 2000 years, but usually it lives 300-400 years. Height growth stops at the age of 100-200 years. This means that this oak in the garden will no longer grow in height.
