Sublime Beautiful Sunday | The 10th Day of TET New Year is a time to repay back

Today is 21st February 2021 which also happens to be the 10th day of the TET Lunar New Year in Vietnam. Unknown to many, today is actually an important day to all Vietnamese. On this day, all Vietnamese people would set up an altar in their homes or offices to say prayers to the God of Prosperity. Trays of food such as fruits, sweets, traditional glutinous rice and many others are set on the altar along with gold to give thanks. Yeah... Gold 😙

I didn't know about this custom until I took a walk this morning to the local wet market near my home. I saw many homes setting up altars in their home and there was also joss stick being used for prayers. Very similar to what we have back in Malaysia where we pray on the night of the 8th day of the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Oddly enough, I noticed many sellers BBQ-ing these big fishes over charcoal and people were buying it; a whole entire fish. Even the vegetable sellers weren't really selling vegetables. There was just baskets of herbs such as basil, mint, oregano and plenty of lettuce. I can only guess so much that on this day everyone is significantly eating the same dish in all homes and it must be a really important celebration.

Till now, I still have no idea why is this BBQ fish such a significance.. Maybe one day I will find out but not today, not today. However, it may be, today turns outs to be a very interesting Sunday 😊

It's Sunday... And it's time for another Beautiful Sunday and Sublime Sunday. So, I'm trying something new this week. Something out of the box, something different, something wild, something odd and who knows where this Sunday will lead us.
