Details and timing for Switch to Hive

Buy Sell Bid 1.png

TIMING

  1. Sunday we will turn off BIDS in preparation for the switch.
  2. Early Monday we will turn off almost all features and the site will be down for a while.
  3. After Splinterlands switch we will turn the site back on with focus on getting buying and selling working flawlessly.
  4. Users should expect that through Monday and Tuesday we will be making lots of small changes to make sure lots of small things are working... we will appreciate feedback during that time on our discord.
  5. Most everything will be back on by Monday or Tuesday... however a DEC based credit system that runs bids and loyalty rewards still has to be designed and created.
  6. Like explained previously our top priority After the launch will be to get BIDS back up and running.

UPDATE ON A FEW FREE PRODUCTS

  • Explorer
  • My Explorer
  • Battlechain
  • My Battlechain

We will get these up and running again right around launch.
We will make a change to them to be only for users.
Right now the qualification won't be much... simply be logged into the site, no market level qualification needed at this present time.

PACKS PAGE

  • Buy packs page will still be around but it doesn't make us any money at all but it still has some cool stats ... we'll just have to update the wording.

UPDATE ON PRESENT RENTALS

Your hero @asgarth has stated that he is personally willing to design a temporary fix for NEW rentals to allow HIVE/HBD to be used on our credit account after the switch. I (@jarvie) personally think we have more important things to work on for peakmonsters but he says he's willing to do it so thank only him. This is not my idea but I won't stand in the way of it as long as there is agreement that a new rental system replace it as soon as possible. It's not financially a solid idea but i can see the benefit to make users happy... so i guess i'm happy for those that are happy.

  • You will be able to deposit hive / hbd on the hive blockchain to do new rentals
  • You will be able to use old steem/sbd peakcredit for your present rentals
  • You will be able to withdraw steem/sbd from peakcredit but not deposit (sunset to steem/sbd)
  • Owners should understand that they may get anyone of these 4 tokens for a little while however with no new deposits on steem/sbd you will see those less and less.
  • New rentals can only be done with Hive/HBD
  • New rentals will be limited to ~20 day contracts or roughly a bit more than the length of a season. That will help us when we transition to new rental system and that is the compromise to bring it back.
  • Also don't forget that you can continue to rent the same card from an owner with a new contract with no cooldown. So even after 20 days just rent the same card.

So just a recap from last post... there will be little reason to keep peakdcredit in steem/sbd from now on so feel free to withdraw.

MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS ON RENTALS

There have been many many discussions about rentals. The most recent update is I (@jarvie) have proposed a solution to rentals that would make it soooo much better than the previous system it would make the old rental system look like a joke.

I'm personally interested in a system that does the following:

  • Obviously the most important thing for me is a quick and easy system for a renter where they primarily just focus on the cards they want and we get them the cards they want
  • where the users do not have to deal with Contracts at all.
  • A system where they just rent cards and peakmonsters matches them up
  • A system where renters or owners are not locked into bad contracts for excessive amounts of time (which frankly is absolutely the case right now in many cases)
  • A system that allows a renter to change up their teams and maybe upgrade to different leagues
  • I'd love to see a two way market... which means owners stating prices they are willing to rent and renters stating the limit of what they're willing to spend on a card. That's a two way market and leads to better price discovery but also leads to more rentals happening because renters can state demand.
  • System absolutely needs to have one data point for each contract. A price. No lengths, no escrows just one comparative number which is integral in order to allow us to match renters to the best deal.

In short i'd like to see a rental system that caters to new players.

I've shared my proposal with @asgarth and Splinterlands team ... we'll see if it is technically possible.
There is a change that would have to be done with my proposal in terms of cooldown rules from Splinterlands. So there is a likelihood it may not be possible... or significant changes may have to happen. Splinterlands team has indeed been in contact with us and wants to see rentals happen.

So yes you're reading this correctly: Old rental system will be back to allowing new rentals soon after switch to Hive.
It'll use HIVE/HBD until DEC credit system is developed. And contract length will be somewhere between 15-30 days to encourage us switching to the new system sooner than later.
