The city of Olsztyn (Poland) is the first city in the world to exploit the potential of the Ethereum blockchain to improve the emergency services of police, ambulance and firefighters.
The Polish city signed a partnership with SmartKey (a bridging technology that connects Ethereum blockchain with physical assets: in this case contactless keys) has decided to equip its emergency teams with a system that allows rescuers to enter any building in the city without having to get the physical key from the owner. In this way a significant obstacle is removed to ensure the effective intervention of rescuers in case of emergency.
SmartKey, a platform realized on the Ethereum blockchain, represents another relevant ETH use case and a step forward towards the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) that will allow the creation of smart cities.
