Today being the third Sunday in the month of July is not omly significant because everyday is significant in its own way but because today is a day where the keyword is divine restoration.
Just getting to the Church this morning the topic for our study is Divine restoration and this has prompted me to write about divine restoration. You’d agree with me that in one way or the other we’ve lost one or two things and we’d give anything to have those things restored back to us.
Taking it to the religious and spiritual aspect, a lot of us have been deprived of certain entitlements that originally we should not have to beg for but because of sin, the satan identification number we posses we have lost all right to these entitlements but God is saying there shall be divine restoration today.
Lets take it back to the book of Genesis, just because of disobedience, Man was kicked out of the garden of Eden and lost direct connection with God but fast forward years down the line there was a redemption plan and that redemption came through Jesus and because if his death and resurrection we were once again granted direct access to God. The bible says nobody goes to the father except through him and that’s the grace we enjoyed today but there are prerequisites to enjoying this grace. Paul says shall be continue in sin and expect grace to abound? God forbid.
According to the book of Joel 2:23-26 “Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month
“24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.”
“25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.”
“26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.”
Prophet Joel in verse 25 spoke about the promise of God regarding the restoration of the years that the great army has taken from us. This is to say that once we turn back and focus on the almighty God, restoration is bound to happen. The Bible further said seek ye first the kingdom of God and it’s righteousness and every other thing shall be added unto you. That is the prerequisite to experiencing divine restoration because you are joint heirs with christ.
The bible said when the children of God were gathered, the devil was there also present and request to be allowed to tempt Job but he was not allowed to touch the life of Job. Job lost everything and was tormented for years. His wife told him why don’t you curse your God and die instead of this pain you are passing through. That is to show you that salvation isn’t a conference call it is an individualistic calling. After years of torment, Job was restored to what he was earlier and even better and the years were restored unto him.
God is still in the business of restoring the years the locust, canker worm and what have you have taken away from you. All you need to do is repent and come onto him. He said cone unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and i would give you rest. May we be restored today greater heights in Jesus name.
