How to be a top 100 witness: Engagement

Someone asked me recently how did I manage to get to the top 100 witness and it made me reflect a bit.Hope this post helps newer and smaller witnesses, and maybe even bigger witnesses than me. Right off the bat I think it was engagement that has got me here.

Before we get started, don't forget to drop a vote for me as a witness if you have a vote laying around!

Of course, you also need a server, but that is what every witness needs. It is implied a server is behind every witness; Although some witnesses do use their personal computers turned on 24/7 to produce blocks. Keep in mind, the lower your rank is the less blocks you are assigned. Only the top 20 witnesses get 1 block per minute!

By the way, it is sad that many top 20 witnesses are not actively engaged with the community. This is very sad because they are the oligarchy that control this blockchain. If they are not engaged and active in the communities they get detached from what are people doing here and what are our expectations as users.

If you are interested in growing as a witness, engage with the communities. Try to add value.

I grew a lot by writing tutorials. I will write more when I have my time and creativity back, but those tutorials were great. There are other types of quality content you can write but tutorials were my speciality.

Whatever it is that you choose to talk about, try to do it well in a way that adds value to the communities where you post. This way the community grows and you grow within the community. It is a very positive and healthy feedback loop!

I am very small, I get 2, maybe 3 blocks a day. But I am willing to share so that the witness sphere gets more competitive. Even if it would mean I go down the rank. I wish I keep growing, but a healthy ecosystem is above all else.
