We are in for a good Friday night Saturday morning with the incoming X class solar flare. It could really light up the skies with the aurora and it is supposed to be nice and clear for us tonight. Yesterday a few flares popped off and there is potential for more as the spot swings around towards us.
The freeze dryer had about 4 hours to go when we went to bed Wednesday night and I didn't want it stopping in the middle of the night so I added a bunch of time. When that time was up mid morning some of the pieces still needed more time so I kicked it back on for a few more hours. Finally it was done after the almost 46 hours.
The apples all came out perfect. The part that takes the longest is the core in the middle and that was what was still soft. The extra time took care of it though.
The marshmallows are non-dairy but they still puff up pretty nicely. The texture turns to crunchy and they last forever since there is no way they can get any harder going stale.
I took a short wander up the hill, only so far though so as not to aggravate my foot too much. The clouds were still low from the rains and the valley looked really cool.
I dropped down the hill to the area that I found all the fungus on Wednesday and I found more various ones. They love the moss and the late afternoon sun it seems.
I was out in the yard getting the trailer hooked up to get grain this morning and the sun just peaked through the clouds and shone bright on the trees.
I had the trailer and truck ready for the morning and parked nose out for a quick exit.
The winds picked up nicely as we soaked through sundown. The winds were the frond side of the storm that hit in the night and is still dumping rain this morning.
I have just 9 days to makes notes for for NanoWriMo. I could probably get by with what I have to start and figure those out as I go but I want to have something down for each idea so I have something to work from each day. I'll be having to write a 1700+ word short story every day in November which in my mind is FAR FAR easier than thinking about a novel and all the plot lines. One short story a day with the same 2 main characters will be much easier for me.
I have been to town this morning for grain in the pouring rain and still have to go empty the barrels. Tonight is going to be awesome with the solar flare inbound and I really really hope we get a badass aurora. They are predicting it being centered on South America but wee should still see a good amount of the charged particles.
