Ladies of Hive contest #63 - The only new year's resolution I need

What are your goals that you want to achieve in 2022?

Another year, another resolution, if there is anything I learn from several resolutions I made over the years, it must be as specific as possible in order for me to keep it on track or make it easier to access my achievements at year end.

It also helps to reflect on last year’s list to see if it needs any adjustments or addition.

2021 was another year the whole world suffered from Covid with a lot of loss and anxiety. I believe it also messed up your plans or greatly affected what you have planned for the year, it was the same for me.

As I am in my late 20s, my resolutions have been the same for a few years, I figure I just added new levels to the current goals or make it more challenging.

There are many approaches when it comes to making a new year’s resolution. As for me, I often categorize it into “Fitness and well-being”, “Education”, “Financial goals”, and the last one — “Relationship”.

Financial goals

At the top of my list this year, I would like to focus on reaching my financial goals.

The pandemic was also the time when unemployment hit its record high, people were made redundant when companies downsized to save cost and their businesses. Even though I was able to keep my job, my income was much reduced than I expected. It’s been more difficult than ever to live by solely on one source of income. It was time when I learned that as soon as I become financially independent, the better it would be.

Joining Hive and starting blogging was the first step on this journey, and 2022 is the time that I would invest more time and effort to reach this goal.

Relationship.

The second priority on my list — Relationships.

Even for a loner, I find relationships important. During the social distancing and lockdown when everyone was isolated, I realized the fundamental of teamwork and face-to-face communication. Though the advances in technology make remote working and learning easier. I find it challenging to keep and maintain some of my relationships.

I’ve been struggling with making new friends and building relationships, both professionally and personally. The pandemic has made it worse since we cannot meet each other in person and the fact that we are physically away from each other.

Fitness and well-being.

I guess one of the advantages of working from home is that I have more time for myself, you know when you live in the city and commuting to work could be a nightmare. I was able to keep doing yoga almost every day. It really helped me to stay calm and relaxed during all the chaos.

This year, I think I am ready to push it to the next level, taking up a new sport — Jogging.

Many people might think jogging is a piece of cake, but it is a real challenge for me. My sister has been practicing it for some time and she set a great example for me. We could see lots of positive benefits that she got from jogging and I think it is high time for me to face my fear as well.

One more thing I would like to add here is practicing mini habits. If you want to achieve the big goal, start with a small step, and that’s the idea of mini habits. I have a terrible habit that I want to quit for years — staying up late. You know how when we were young and take advantage of our health, I must get rid of this unhealthy one.

Education

As an educator, learning is a part of my job.

Critical thinking is one thing that has been on my list since I started making and planning my objectives.

I believe this is the most important skill everyone needs to learn in the 21st century. In a world that full of the unknown, conflicts, fake news, and controversies, people need skills that help them stay informed and think independently.

Reading is a mini habit that helps me make some progress on this journey.

In 2022, I’m motivated to share more and be more out-spoken as writing about something and sharing with everyone is the best way to check what I have learned and strengthen my knowledge.

That is it. It is the beginning of something new.
Wish you a happy new year with lots of joy!
