I have been trying to choose one out of the options for the Ladies of Hive Contest and I just smiled because I couldn't lay hold of any option but to end up going for the last one which says;
20 years ago, I was still a small girl in Primary School. I was only 8 years old then and if I should remember what experiences I had being a young girl, things were so different from how it is today. There was nothing like technology fully in existence then because everything was manual. Women washed clothes with their hands, used firewood to cook, and wore clothes that weren't exposing their bodies especially cleavages and so on.
Getting married was easy then as they believed that women's duty is in the kitchen and they should be at home to take care of the house and children while their men go out in search of food for the family.
My mom told me of how she was a typewriter as a young woman even before she got married to my father and how her boss treated her so well, not like today, some employers would frustrate the hell out of one's life. She showed me some of her past pictures and I just laughed at the way she dresses, together with her friends. The kind of hair they did was like in uniformity with other ladies and things were so smooth then for them.
In our today's world, I feel sometimes that the way of living in the past should be reintroduced again because many things have changed from good to worse. Even though there are some aspects we are grateful for technology.
At least women can now go out to work and support their husbands and not like before. The economy wasn't too tough then compared to today. It is important that women also go out to work and help support the family and not leave all responsibilities to the man alone because it will weigh such a man down.
Online skills like blogging and vlogging have made the world changed that it has given most women the room to work from home to support the family. Women are now independent and they have become great in what they do.
Education is now given to women, unlike before when the idea of women should not be educated since everything ends in the kitchen for them. They are now allowed to pursue their careers and become successful in their field and not have to depend on their man for survival. They can now survive without waiting to be fed but to also feed the family with what they earn. They are now capable and strong to work by themselves and this is their right to freedom.
Any woman who wants to get married now must think thoroughly about it so she doesn't become a liability to her man. The past era is gone and things have changed. No man would ever want to marry a liability and one who has got no sense. The moment where a girl is handed over to a man by her parents even without her consent is gone because you can't even try it today. You have to find someone who you love and loves you, and study before being tied to him or her.
Just as technology has made things easier for men and women, it has also made things worse for them too and one has to be careful not to let those invented things destroy their homes.
