LOH #184: My Most Cherished Chapter!

Motherhood is one of the most special moments that ever happened in my life. Perhaps it is an opening to a beautiful chapter that brought me so many priceless memories from the time my baby was still in my womb until he has now grown up into a very good son.

And that, I am thankful to dear @trucklife-family for the wonderful question this week as I chose to share the first question that goes:

Motherhood is both rewarding and challenging. What has been one of your greatest lessons since becoming a mother?

Time indeed has its wings that make everything happen in a glimpse of an eye. How time flies so fast that my son is now turning 11 years old. And that, I am finding myself reflecting on my wonderful journey as a mother that has been filled not only with precious moments but as well as with several challenges.

Tripping down memory lane, he was still in my womb way back in 2012 and I gave birth to him in June 2013. And here is my pregnancy photo back then as I took a selfie and captured my baby bump while I was in my room at my parent's house.

The moment I gave birth to him, everything was so overwhelming. I must say that it was both fulfilling and rewarding to hold him in my arms after he came out of my womb and heard him cry for the very first time. Carrying him for nine months was not an easy journey. Even when he was still five months in my womb, I experienced so many uncomfortable feelings like vomiting, the feeling of uneasiness, and many unpleasant moments not to mention that I have been in and out from the hospital for having an illness while he was still in my womb.

Aside from that, I have also experienced so much pain in giving birth. Good thing, I never went to the Caesarian section because I had a normal delivery, and it lasted for 12 hours before he was given birth. However, nothing beats seeing my adorable baby when I gave birth in Mother’s Joy at Cagayan De Oro City, Philippines. And from that day, my life has changed in several ways.

I had sleepless nights and difficulty in handling the challenges of parenthood since I was still in my early 20s when I became a mother. But it made me stronger as I watched my son grow over the years with every milestone he reached.

Perhaps the journey of becoming a mother has never been easy but it taught me one of the greatest life lesson, and that is to be resilient. I never knew how strong I was until I became a mother.

I was already working in the Department of Education when he came into my life. It was so difficult for me being a working mom but I am always grateful for surviving this chapter. What made the situation hard were the sleepless nights most especially when he got sick. I am very careful since I experienced seeing him with convulsions. There are also times that he wants to play at night and handling these time changes takes a lot of patience and sacrifice as I am working as a teacher at the time.

Despite the struggles I have had, I never gave up. And now, I am having my most loving and caring son. Wherever I go, he travels with me as we make memories together in every escapade we have.

Every day, I am striving to be the best that I can as a mother to him as I also strive to provide everything for my son. Challenges may have been alongside but I am always grateful since they made me stronger than I was before.

I am always looking forward to seeing what the future holds for him. And one of my wishes is for him to continue dwelling on life with a good character. Perhaps the day I became a mother was a day filled with so much joy while cherishing every moment of the day that I shared with my son.
