LOH CONTEST #155 - HORMONAL INBALANCE

Seriously, being a woman isn't really easy. Women go through a lot. I need you to tap yourself on the shoulder and whisper, Well done, girl. You are doing great. You are a strong woman.

Hormonal imbalances usually have a significant impact on a woman's health, both physically and mentally, and this can lead to some annoying symptoms like irregular menstrual cycles, pregnancy, weight gain, hair loss, mood swings, etc. As ladies, taking care of ourselves physically and mentally is very essential.

For years I had an irregular menstrual cycle. I see my period every month, but it was usually one day, half day, or one and a half day, and the flow was very mild. Sanitary pads that other ladies would use for at least 3–5 days of their flow, I would use for 3 months and more. I first wasn't disturbed because I taught, I was flexing and resting until I came across a post on the internet on hormonal inbalance and it's effect, and I went to different hospitals. Several tests and scans were carried out, I took different medicines for the year, and aside from all this, here are some things different doctors advised me to do in order to stay fit.

Staying hydrated: Generally, taking water is good for our overall health. I remember a nurse sometimes ago telling me that taking enough water also helps with hormonal imbalances and that sugary drinks should be taken in moderation and, if possible, should be avoided.

Eating a well-balanced diet: we know that we cannot overemphasize this. Having healthy eating habits helps in so many ways in maintaining hormonal balance. Try eating a lot of veggies and fruits.

Exercising regularly: Can also help maintain hormonal balance. At least you can take 30 minutes to either go for a walk, jog, swim, or other forms of exercise that are not intensive.

Getting enough sleep: This is another way to balance hormones. We all know that hormones disrupt the sleep patterns of some people, and this can sometimes lead to fatigue and mood swings. As much as possible, we should try getting at least 7-9 hours of sleep a day.
