Ladies of Hive Community Contest #125 - Euthanasia - Should it be practiced or not?

The question of @LadiesofHive this week Contest that I wish to answer is
1️⃣ According to the Internet, Euthanasia is the intervention voluntarily accepted by the patient and performed by a medical professional, which accelerates the death of a terminally ill patient, with the intention of avoiding unnecessary suffering and pain. Do you agree with this way of dying, do you think it dignifies the person in his decision of how to leave, or on the contrary, do you think it should not be practiced? Could you argue

Sometime back I watched this Indian movie, Salaam Venky. The movie showed a young boy who has been suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and there is no return for him. Towards the end he pleads for Euthanasia to end his suffering, but the law does not permit.

I have never been able to come to a point on this subject where I can say a clear yes or a no. When I see people suffering at extremes, for a moment I feel that Euthanasia would be ideal for them, but then I think that by accepting it are we not interfering with our karmic cycles? Some people may feel that it would be absurd to think it that way. But to think of it, our sufferings that we go through are a part of our Karma and if we do not finish that Karma then what. It's also just not about the ill patient karma but also the karma of all those involved with the person. I do not know then what, whether you need to go through it again in another lifetime because you gave up here, or that salvation will be given to you.

There is a lot of spiritual contexts that comes to my mind when I think of this particular subject. Life and Death are two things where we still believe that it's God's creation and destruction, then how do we take that in our hands and be the decision makers. On the other side, when I see extreme sufferings of people, I feel that would it not be right to set them free from all of the pain that they are going through. Life does get extremely painful for them and then they may not see any other way but to end it all, specially when it is certain that there is no coming back. But still, you never know when a miracle can happen and things can change.

One thing is for sure that I believe that whatever decision has to be taken, needs to be from the person and not from any influencers. When I say this, I mean there are some people who get into a state of Coma for a very long period, sometimes many years as well. In some cases, the Doctors would even give up, and they leave the decision on the family members. This is what I do not agree. The decision should solely come from the patient and no one else, and if the patient is not in a state to take the decision, then it should not be considered at all.

Till the time the breath goes on the hope can also go on. It's very easy to talk on this topic and put our views, but when it comes to reality these decisions are too complex and once taken can leave you to guilt also for lifetime. Though I do not have a clear yes or no, but I would still weigh a little more on the NO.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
