My Second Born Experience

Hello lovely ladies and gentlemen of Hive. Welcome to my blog 🥰

Question one of this weeks Ladies of Hive contest #84 hit home for me. As a scientist, I often over analyze information and data which can be mentally exhausting. That is not a bad thing in the laboratory, but in social interactions this analysis can be emotionally draining. I've been interested in the concept of birth order for quite some time. It is so fascinating. I often find myself in conversations with family, friends, and colleagues about birth order as well as the facts of their birth. Most people I've met know their zodiac sign as well as their siblings if they are not an only child.

I'm also intrigued by numbers. These details usually come out in casual conversation, but sometimes with certain people, we may jump down a rabbit hole together. I usually try not to probe for information. I just listen attentively and collect this data in my memory in order to better understand another human's experience. It's my way of connecting with others through numbers, birth charts and family dynamics. A scientific study indicates that birth order doesn't really have that much impact on personality. These are my thoughts.

What was your position (in terms of birth) in the family? How did that experience help you become, or hinder you from becoming, a successful adult?

Easter 1974

My brother was born first. His name is Michael. I have always looked up to my brother. His name means "He Who is Like God." This man is a saint. Pure of heart and strong in his faith. He and his wife attend a Methodist church. They serve our community in many ways. I consider myself Agnostic. I don't know of anyone that has yet been able to prove or disprove the existence of God. I believe that everyone should be allowed to believe whatever they like. Even if it is "birds aren't real." I am also fascinated with conspiracy theories. They are an evolutionary need to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. To be a part of a group or community. Isn't that why we're here?

Holidays 1974

I agree with Science. Birth order alone doesn't determine someone's personality. We are much more complex than that. The location, time, position of the stars and planets, parental economic status as well as sibling order of birth and all your family members unique data combined are what paint this incredible picture of one and only YOU. My brother and I are both Geminis. The dynamics of our family is The American Dream. My father is a Vietnam veteran in the US Air Force. My mother was a stay at home mom. She loved Days of Our Lives 😂 My parents are precious.

Easter 1974

As the baby in my family, I was what they call in East Tennessee "spoiled rotten." My brother and I are both educated as Biologists. He chose the education route and coached baseball, softball and football. He now works for Utilities for the city where I live and work. We are blessed with clean water. My family taught me the importance of kindness, honesty and service. I work for the State of Tennessee. I absolutely adore my job. I'm unable to work with the general public and I am surrounded by PhD's and MD's. I am in my element in the lab. I'm a follower and a leader. I believe in the power of plants.🍀 I believe my experience has contributed to my success as an adult.

Vacation 1976

I truly believe that everything aligns to create our uniqueness. It all impacts us in both a positive and negative way. That is true for everyone. Yin and Yang. Good and Evil. Black and White. Angel and Devil. We all have this dual personality. Our society is very complex, like our own individual complexity. The world is a multiplex of numerous species which come together to form an ecosystem. A community. Let's be kind to one another.

Our genetic code is 99.9% similar. The ~0.1% is what makes you uniquely you. We all possess ancient DNA in our code that has been preserved for millennia. Our 0.1% differences are a product of gene mutations, latitude, ultraviolet light, and genetic recombination. We are all a miracle. We are all pure energy and light. My birth name is Melanie. It means "black" and I don't see myself as the black sheep. I am the tie dyed sheep 🤣 Carpe Diem!
