Greetings to all ladies of hive, happy new week to us all. Thanks to @elizabethbit for this wonderful questions. They are indeed questions for the season. For this contest,I will be answering the second question:
Since gifts are given at this time of year, or any time of year, what would you like to receive if you could choose your own gift, and why?
Gift packages are what we receive at least once a year. It will be very difficult to see anyone who will say from the beginning of the year till the last which is December, he or she has not been gifted.
This season of Christmas is more like a special month where we receive gifts randomly. A gift can be anything, most people feel a gift is acknowledged to be one when it is wrapped and packaged and delivered. That's a false perception. A gift can be someone offering you something you don't expect no matter how little that will be.
Just like we say here "let me celebrate Christmas for you" and the person offers you money, but you do something. Those are gifts and the recipients are always filled with excitement because they least expected the offer.
For me, we rounded off our end of the year picnic today and during the planning, the committees emphasized on presenting gift items to one another.

WHAT I NEEDED AND WHAT I GOT
I was expecting to receive a smartwatch as a gift. There were lots of gift items available and the picking method was kind of fun. When it is your turn,you close your eyes and whatever your hand touches is your gift and that's what you go home with.
When it was my turn to pick, I jokingly asked everyone to pray for me to get a smartwatch and we all joked and laughed over it. I closed my eyes and the first item my hand got to was a wine.
I opened my eyes and I felt so happy although that wasn't what I needed but at least I picked something tangible. I gleamed with So much joy as I jumped excited to hug the person that bought the gift. I felt so happy because receiving gifts from others is like I'm receiving love from them.
WHY I NEEDED SMARTWATCH
Because of the nature of my environment and the kind of work I do, I make calls frequently and the stress of picking up the phone regularly to answer and hang a call is what smartwatch can assist me do. Receiving and sending texts can be easily done with a smartphone without having to work with a phone. I felt it would really help my work efficiency. There are lots of reasons why this is very important to me but it turned out I picked a wine which I so much cherish even though it isn't a smartwatch.
After the picking was done, it was found out that 3 people picked wristwatches but not smartwatches. Regardless, we all felt excited for the fun moment. I exchanged a very tight tie as a sign of my appreciation for the gift I received.
