I want to share with you today my Step By Step from a commissioned TREE OF LIFE (Part 2) mural I painted on a 10 meter wall at a large terrace from a villa/holiday home, located in Arenas, Spain.
I include also a video of the finished painting at the end… 😉

The tree of life mural that got painted over 😱😳 but luckily the client, owned another property up in the hills, and asked me to redo the Tree of Life there.

@liftslikealady and @heroldius I thought you would appreciate seeing the new mural after you saw the first one 😊
This mural is a much larger TREE OF LIFE than the first one I painted in Nerja and goes on a 10 meter long outside terrace wall, and I guide you through the changes it went through over the years 😎
I started painting the mural on 17 December 2015 and finished it on Christmas Day🎄
As it is empty during the winter months I could stay there while painting, what was a great help and fun at the same time. I love this area of Arenas and surroundings. 🥰
Let me show you now my step by steps/ progress photos of this painting done with brushes and acrylic paints from MOLOTOW and CREATEX AUTO AIR airbrush paints.
The wall was damaged at a few places, so I needed to deal with that first.
Here you see a few bad spots.
As you can see, you can’t paint over there… you would loose the painting in no time.
So I scraped out all loose bits:
Put a sealer on it, then filled it up… smoothed it all out and painted it with a white colour that would match the rest of the wall.
Now we can start painting 🎨😎
I started to ground the tree 🌳
I didn’t really have an design for this one, but would take The first Tree of Life as an example. And just go with the flow… let the building and its curves guide me were the branches wants to go 😎
Bit by bit I’m adding branches with different colours.
The last branches are added:
Next are the animals, birds and insects 😁😎
First I painted the little owl again:
Another bird came to join us.
A swallow decided it wanted to rest for while.
A badger, the client’s favourite animal, couldn’t be left out.
Just peaking around the corner…
I gave the owl a little friend:
I slowly added now also details on the branches.
Plus more animals and insects like ladybugs 🐞, butterflies 🦋, caterpillar 🐛, dragonflies etc.

This mural gives guests that stay at the villa also a fun game to play: COUNT THE ANIMALS, BIRDS AND INSECTS
I painted in total: 64 of them 😉
‼️But wait I’m not finished ~ finished…
As the TREE OF LIFE IS AN EVER CHANGING TREE‼️
I went back on 1 October 2021 to repair the mural 😎 and add to it…

I found the mural in this state after 6 years.
Keep in mind I had it sealed with 2K sealer/ clear coat.
But the Andalucia weather can be brutal during winter and the summer sun ☀️ . And the wall has a leak from within… so the paint is damaged from within and pushed out:
As you can see it is the exact same spot I repaired 6 years ago… so I had to think about a solution.
Overall it is not that bad 😇 I CAN FIX THIS
So I repaired the wall again and started adding the colours, animals, birds and insects again 😎
As you can see, I decided to change the direction of the branches, so they wouldn’t go over the “bad spots”
Now let’s paint again… 😎
‼️AS IT IS A TREE OF LIFE…. LETS GROW THE BRANCHES A BIT FURTHER AND ADD ANIMALS, BIRDS AND INSECTS DURING THE PROCESS‼️

‼️Now comes the interesting part… I decided to add leaves to the tree of life‼️

As you can see “The Tree of Life” grew quite a lot last year and more animals gathered….
