Just like other starting projects, it's not always sunshines and rainbows. To me, it seemed like this feature was a very good idea but very badly executed.
The current state of One Click Rentals would probably work during the time when they have level limiters on the league you are playing like last year. Last week, we've talked about the positives of this feature and now, we'll go on the dark side as I'll give the Top 5 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Use One-Click Rentals.
The set rentals are more expensive than needed
When you check the cards, you would notice that there are a lot of unnecessary gold cards that they added to increase the price of the rentals. While the Gold Cards will increase your rewards when you win, you need to win first, which is the problem.
Except for the 0 mana cost gold cards, there are a lot of them that I don't think you would ever use if you rent them which makes it such a waste of money than just renting the non-foil counterpart.
Bigger commitment than daily or season rentals
When I tried renting one last week, it said that I need to rent it for 19 days. I assume it's because of the remaining time on my current season PLUS the next season making this a Season Set Rental.
Having no control about the rental days is very inefficient especially since some players don't play the game everyday to grind OR they grind every few days.
This makes the days you don't play a waste and if you put it for a continous 19-day rental, for example, a lot of days will be wasted for the rental.
The rental set listing only lists limited number of cards
There are a lot of monsters and summoners in Splinterlands. The starter set are not even half of the choices you can use in Modern Ranked Format.
The more important and stronger cards are not included in the rental set and these are the cards that will change your gameplay such as Torch Vizier or Lorkus.
Set rentals does not include other series except Chaos Legion.
This means renting a set makes it very inefficient for Wild Ranked Format and too limited for Modern Ranked Format. Even the strong cards that you can use in Wild Ranked Format like Kron the Undying or The Kraken is not in there.
For the Ranked Format, it's missing very vital parts like Agor Longtail or Coeurl Lurker that you can use for very strong combos.
Cannot rent what you need but rather only what others offer
Basically, you don't have a choice and has limited control over it. You may rent a lot of cards that you won't even use for the whole rental time, which is complete opposite of when you are doing single card rentals. The levels are a major problem as well.
I could probably pass this and use it even if it's expensive if the strong cards are in max levels. But since the cards you will be renting are mostly level 1s, it really doesn't give you a lot of fighting chance than someone with a proper full set of max leveled cards.
The current One Click Set Rentals are very inefficient. If you are playing in Bronze, then you can only have a max level of 3 for common cards. This fits exactly on the card rental set.
However, if you rent this and faced me with monsters who are levels 1-3 and I face you with a level 8 Xenith Monk as my tank, you will see the sheer difference in power which will make you ask yourself, "Why did I even bother to rent these cards?"
This one card rental is a really good way to learn for beginners but it's very inefficient to use if you want to increase your league and rating because the higher leveled monsters and summoners would just feast on your soul while spending way less than you did with those rental set.
