In my experience playing this game, I've learned that relying on luck and RNG can lead to frustrating outcomes. That's why I prefer rules of combat that reduce uncertainties such as Lost Magic, Keep Your Distance and Broken Arrows rule of combat.

Even though I favor using magic damage over other damage types, that doesn't mean I don't appreciate other approaches to the game. This tests your ability to adapt as a player which is very important if you want to win your games in Splinterlands.

I find particularly appealing mastering different rules of combats. Join me as I show you the importance of Lost Magic rule of combat and my gaming strategy in order to win games that I should've lost.

Helios Matriarch is a Rare summoner from the Chaos Legion Series.

Level 4 Rare summoners allow the use of:
Level 2 Legendary monsters;
Level 3 Epic monsters;
Level 4 Rare monsters;
Level 5 Common monsters.

Helios Matriarch isn't particularly strong. In fact, I think she's one of the weakest Soulbound summoner from the Chaos Legion. Her very normal ability though is balanced by the fact that Helios Matriarch is a Dragon summoner, which allows you to use the Dragon Splinter's power to enhance whatever your build is.

+1 Speed. [Stat Modifier] [Positive Status] All friendly monsters has their Speed increased by 1.

The extra speed proved quite useful in this game in order for my monsters to not miss and even strike first than my opponents.

Conscript. [Support] Allow the use of one additional Gladiator this battle.

I wasn't able to use this ability in this battle because I am using Life Splinter and the only useful Life Gladiator I have is Captain Katie, which is a monster with magic damage and is unusable in this battle due to Lost Magic rule of combat.

Dhampir Infiltrator has low health but high damage due to his Sneak and Double Strike abilities. This makes him a very good attacker card. Just make sure he is well protected as a high damage Opportunity monster can probably kill him in one shot like Deeplurker.

Abilities

At level 1, Sneak is unlocked. [Target Modifier] The attack priority of this monster's attack is changed to "The opponent's monster that is on the last position."

Sneak is a really strong ability for Dhampir Infiltrator due to his other abilities, especially the next one.

At level 1, Double Strike is unlocked. [Attack Modifier] [Damage] This monster is allowed to do two attacks every round.

With this ability and Sneak, Dhampir Infiltrator can dish out huge damage to the opponents by attacking the opponent's last position monster twice every round.

At level 5, Cripple is unlocked. [Negative Status] Monsters attacked by this card have their max health reduced by 1.

While this is not as strong as the other abilities, It is still useful when your opponents decided to focus on Taunt monsters as their strategy. Reducing their max health reduces their Heal potential as well.

At level 8, Affliction is unlocked. [Negative Status] Opponents attacked by this monster has a chance of getting the Afflicted status. Afflictioned monsters cannot be healed and unaffected by the effects of Heal, Tank Heal and Triage.

With Double Strike ability, this also means you have twice as much chance to apply the Affliction debuff to your opponents.

Helios Matriarch: She is my highest level summoner when I played this game so I used her even if I won't be able to use the full power of Helios Matriarch.

1. Djinn Chwala: Djinn Chwala is a good and reliable tank allowing you to dish out damage against melee opponents with his Thorns ability.
2. Kra'ar Xoc: A 1 mana cost monster that can become a strong tank with his Scavenger ability.
3. Venari Crystalsmith: A good tank should always be accompanied by a Tank Heal monster. For Life Splinter, she is the best choice.
4. Dhampir Infiltrator: My Sneak monster that can deal out huge damage with his Double Strike Sneaks.
5. Stitch Leech: A 3 mana cost monster with Sneak available from the Life Splinter.
6. Uraeus: Another Sneak monster but with an extra dash of armor. While the armor looked weak, this 1 armor is what actually saved me during this game.

ᗪIᗪ YOᑌᖇ ᔕTᖇᗩTEGY ᗯOᖇKEᗪ?

Yes. I won but it was very very close. The opponent's Retaliate was very unexpected and since I have a lot of low health monsters, he almost got a draw on me. Hopefully, I have my Uraeus's armor to stop a draw and turn it into a win. Honestly, this was a very lucky game for me.

ᗯᕼᗩT ᗯIᒪᒪ YOᑌ TᖇY ᗪIᖴᖴEᖇEᑎTᒪY ᑎE᙭T TIᗰE?

I was very conscious of my opponent's possible Sneaks which made me overthink my plays. I should've pushed her towards the back more allowing her to survive longer.

However, since my opponent will one hit my monsters, I am not sure how much this would benefit me but I still think this is the only change I would like to make for this game.

Helios Matriarch and Dhampir Infiltrator in Lost Magic Rules of Combat

? 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒐𝒓 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒏𝒐𝒕?

Yes. Even though I am fond of using magic damage, I still like this rule of combat because it reduces the uncertainties in my games. I don't really like relying on luck and RNG so reducing that uncertainty of if my opponent will be using melee, range or magic damage is always accepted in my play book.
