However, as I've tried it and had it once in a while, the taste kind of settled. It's now one of my favorite things in the world. It's weird but kind of addicting in a sense.
That's what I felt for Splinterlands. Initially, it's good. The DEC rewards you get are decent. I've even able to rent my way to Silver at one point. However, as changes go by, the rewards gets less and less along with the value of DEC, SPS, and other coins associated with Splinterlands.
Instead of using it as my revenue income, I just started to play it as a game, enjoy the moment and recently, I've become hooked. I haven't invested too much in the game, around $10 excluding the Spellbook Registration fee, but I'm planning to put more in the future.
TLDR: I like Splinterlands now. It's fun and addicting.
The reason I'm saying this is I realized I need to check my monthly improvement in the game. Not only to encourage others to play the game, but for personal gains as well since I want to see my improvement each month.

The total value for the cards I got this month is $2.513. I also got 15 Legendary Potions, 13 Gold Potions, 152 Merits and 4.075 SPS
For this month, my card rewards are quite few because I've been lurking at Bronze 3 to Bronze 1 depending on my rental during the season end.
Bronze League has 28% chance for card rewards. This means that there's only a small chance of gettting cards in Bronze compared to other league.
However, I still got some cards which is good. I did some research and subtracted my collection power from my current rentals and the ones I got from the rewards above.
Collection Power (September): 1230
Current Rentals: 640
Collection Power from Rewards and Purchase (October): 255 (Common) + 240 (Rare)
Total Collection Power: 2,370
My next goal is to have the collection power to get to Bronze 1 Modern, at least, for next month, excluding the rental collection power.
