Share Your Battle: Silvershield Assassin

Silvershield Asassin Cover.gif

Introduction

While researching, I remember that there is a melee build for Life element. This became possible with the help of Silvershield Knight, which has Inspire ability at level 1 increasing all melee monster's damage by 1. Among the monsters, Silvershield Assassin is also in the list having Double Strike and melee monster which is really strong when combined with the said monster.

Lore

The Assassins do not openly wear the insignia of the Order of the Silver Shield, for they take on the dirty work, the kind of work that is best forgotten after it is done. Armed with small jagged daggers and throwing knives, Silver Shield Assassins kill with the silence of a nightfall over the Khymeve Meadows. They never take prisoners.

At an average price of $1.10, you can get one yourself. However, I think this wouldn't be good unless you have either Inspire Ability or Daria Dragonscale to increase the damage for Silvershield Assassin's Double Strike. Alone, he isn't actually strong but with proper combos, he can eliminate the back row by himself.

You can rent one for 0.15 DEC per day to test him. Since he's affordable, if you already have Daria Dragonscale, or Life or Neutral monsters with Inspire, I encourage you to get him. He's really useful on those rules of combat where you can only use Life but cannot use range monsters. It's really convenient when you have this guy on that rules of combat.

Stats

Stats.jpg

Silvershield Assassin's stats is fairly low for a reason. That is because Double Attack with Sneak is unbelievable powerful especially if you combine them with other stat increasing abilities which Life element is normally good at.

He also has high mana cost which makes him hard to use on low and mid mana matches. Make sure that you can pull off the combo monsters before inserting Silverhield Assassin as him alone does not really turn the tides of battle.

Abilities

Sneak.png

At level 1, Sneak and Double Strike is unlocked. Sneak allows your monster to target the last positioned opponent as their target of attack. Having a Sneak monster allows you to attack from front and back which is hard to counter as you normally can fully support one side of the team.

Double Strike.png

Double Strike allows your monster to attack twice on their turn. As mentioned before, adding Inspire increases the melee damage of Silvershield Assassin's damage by 1. If you add Double Strike to the equation, this equates to having a total damage of 4 per Silvershield Assassin's turn. Since Inspire also stacks, another Inspire monster increases the overall damage to 6 per turn, another one to 8 per turn and so on.

Poison.png

At level 5, Poison is unlocked. Monsters with Poison ability has a chance of inflicting Poison effect to the opponent. Poisoned monster takes 2 damage per turn for until they die or a cleanse ability is used on the monster. In my opinion, Poison ability on Silvershield Assassin is a bit useless since the back line monster normally has low health. At level 5, his damage is also at 2 meaning he can deal a maximum of 4 damage on his turn by the help of Double Strike. This normally takes care of most back line monsters. Adding Inspire ability to that and he'll just kill everyone every turn whether there's poison ability or not.

Author's Notes Animated.gif

Do you like Silvershield Asssassin? Why or Why not?

Not so much. Even after all those praise, I couldn't say that I like using Silvershield Assassin because I rarely use Melee Life element. Also, since Life element has General Sloan giving all ranged monsters an additional 1 damage, this makes less sense on using melee monsters. If Life element will have something that will buff melee monsters, this would be really strong. Otherwise, the work around is using Daria Dragonscale from the Dragon Element as a substitute for that bonus melee damage.

Lineup

Lineup.jpg

Summoner: Daria Dragonscale: A dragon summoner that gives +1 melee damage to all of your monster

  1. Shieldbearer: Best Life tank. Has Taunt ability to make all of your opponent's monster target him.

  2. Silvershield Assassin: Has melee damage, Sneak ability allowing him to attack from any position and Double Strike allowing him to attack twice per round. Compatible with Daria Dragonscale.

  3. Venari Crystalsmith: Has Tank Heal ability to restore Shieldbearer's health per round, and extra 1 range damage.

  4. Celestial Harpy: Has melee damage, Flying ability for increased evasion chance and Opportunity ability to attack from any position. Compatible with Daria Dragonscale.

Did your strategy worked?

Yes. Daria Dragonscale's bonus damage, when combined with Double Strike increases it by 2 total damage and not 1. That means, since Silvershield Assassin now has 2 damage, with Double Strike, he does a damage of 4 per round instead of 2.

This allows me to kill lower health monsters easily along with Celestial Harpy at 2 damage also. Shieldbearer and Venari Crystalsmith, stop the opponent's attacks while the others eliminate my enemies from the back one by one.

What will you try differently next time?

Since the mana cap is a bit limited, this would be okay. I recently discovered also that Shieldbearer, at higher level has Shield ability and with Taunt, that's a really strong combo. That would be a strong lineup in addition to this.
