Countering the poison damage by the heal restore is, by no chance, new. I've used this strategy before after seeing it used by my opponents in the Bronze League. However, I kind of wanted to make it a step further and the Martyr ability allows it to happen.

This is probably the start of monsters that I would call, "Raid Boss." Raid Boss are types of monsters that can take out a whole party by its own in RPG games. These monsters are strong enough to overpower the number advantage by the opponents and with the Martyr abilities, this is starting to take shape in Splinterlands.

Being a legendary monster, you only need a level 2 to get maxed levels on Silver League. This is by far one of the most efficient cost to level ratio that you can rent in the game.

_Abilities

-1 melee damage. All opponent's monsters have their melee damage reduced by 1 with a minimum of 1. Technically speaking, this ability is the same as Demoralize.

Cornealus is one heck of a monster sitting at 12 health, 2 damage and 3 speed at level 1. Damage increases from 2 range damage at level 1 to 4 damage at level 4. However, stats are not the only thing this monster boasts as this card can be used as a substitute tank as well when Close Range is available.

_Abilities

At level 1, Heal is unlocked. Monsters with Heal restores a third of his max health at the start of his turn. This ability has a minimum of 2 health restored.

At level 2, Thorns is unlocked. A monster with Thorns inflicts 2 damage back to its melee attacker when hit by a melee attack.

At level 3, Return Fire is unlocked. Monsters with Return Fire inflicts half of the range damage it takes back to the attacker. The minimum damage for this is 1.

At level 4, Magic Reflect is unlocked. Magic Reflect works exactly as Return Fire but for magic damage.

Noxious Fumes Rules of Combat. Inflicts poisoned status to all monsters on the field.

Monsters with poisoned status from Noxious Fumes takes 2 damage at the start of the round.

Close Range Rules of Combat. Gives Close Range ability to all monsters on the field.

Range monsters with Close Range ability are allowed to attack while in first position.

All elements unlocked except for Earth Elements. Summoners and Monsters from this element cannot be used during this battle.

Cornealus in Silver League

? 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒐𝒓 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒏𝒐𝒕?

Yes. Cornealus is one of my boss monsters. It is unfortunate that I have to rent him at a high cost, roughly 40+ DEC per day on some occassions but I really like him because of his versatility. With Fernheart, you have a good tank. On mid-high mana caps, put him at the far back and you have a Sneak counter with heal. As long as you don't use him on the rule of combat with Cripple, I'm sure you'll have fun having him on your team.

Camila Sungazer, as I always explained, is my generic favorite summoner. A cheaper legendary summoner with 3 mana and -1 melee to all enemies. She's useful in any battles on any rule on anything. I always rent her since she's an easy access to high level dragons without having to spend too much on the rental costs.

Summoner: Camila Sungazer: My standard summoner. Has compatibility with Chain Golem but is not required for this battle.

1. Chain Golem: Has Shield and Void which allows him to halve all damage except poison.
2. Carnage Titan: Has Reach and Double Strike which means he can attack twice in a round while in second position. Also not required in this battle.
3. Forgotten One: Has Immunity which negates all of the negative effects including poison caused by the Noxious Fumes Rule of Combat..
4. Firecaller: Has Martyr ability that gives 1 damage, 1 speed and 1 max health to monster directly on front and back of him. Placed in between Cornealus and Forgotten One since they are the most durable on this Rule of Combat.
5. Cornealus: My boss monster for this battle. A range monster that gains benefit from Close Combat. Has Heal to restore health every round. His heal is stronger than the poison damage which means that he wouldn't "theoretically" take damage for the poison each round.
6. Venari Marksrat: Neutral monsters with Martyr ability. When he dies, he improves Cornealus's stats due to Martyr.

ᗪIᗪ YOᑌᖇ ᔕTᖇᗩTEGY ᗯOᖇKEᗪ?

Yes. Since the release of the Martyr abilities. I abuse them on certain rules of combat, most notably, Noxious Fumes. I have my boss monster surrounded by Martyr monsters in order to buff that certain monster's stats.

In this battle, this buffs my Cornealus with an extra 2 range damage, 2 speed and 2 max health. This counter's the opponent's Quix the Devious's -1 range and -1 speed. Cornealus's heal deals with the poison damage from the rules of combat while the other rule allows him to attack while in first position.

ᗯᕼᗩT ᗯIᒪᒪ YOᑌ TᖇY ᗪIᖴᖴEᖇEᑎTᒪY ᑎE᙭T TIᗰE?

For this battle, none. I have drafted the best team possible based on my available cards on this specific rule of combat. So, I would not change anything.

However, I would like to offer a suggestion to my readers. If ever you want to recreate this but don't have the Close Range rule of combat, what you can do is use the Earth summoner, Fernheart. He gives Close range to all of your monsters allowing to range monsters to attack in first position and an extra health. If you use him with Cornealus surrounded by two Martyr monsters, on a Noxious Fumes rule of combat, Cornealus gets a 15 max health allowing him to get 5 heals per round instead of 4, which is a lot stronger than my current build for this battle.
