This is a silver league battle. This is a very good example of how strong certain abilities are when used properly. I'm also enjoying playing Splinterlands again due to low market price of cards. While it isn't good for the investors, it's more fun to have the cards that you need at any given point.

Riftwing

Market Price | Buy

Riftwing Buy.jpg 𝔓π”₯𝔬𝔱𝔬 𝔣𝔯𝔬π”ͺ π”ͺ𝔢 π”–π”π”©π”¦π”«π”±π”’π”―π”©π”žπ”«π”‘π”° π”žπ” π” π”¬π”²π”«π”±.

Due to low price point, I suggest buying Gold Riftwing instead. A level 3 costs $0.42 while a max level gold costs $8.30.

One good advantage of using a Gold card is increased 10% on rewards when you win. While it's negligible at lower league, you can feel its effect the higher league you go.

Market Price | Rent

Riftwing rent.jpg 𝔓π”₯𝔬𝔱𝔬 𝔣𝔯𝔬π”ͺ π”ͺ𝔢 π”–π”π”©π”¦π”«π”±π”’π”―π”©π”žπ”«π”‘π”° π”žπ” π” π”¬π”²π”«π”±.

Since the market price is low, the rental price is also low. You can rent an almost max level for 1.63 DEC per day at level 7. The lowest is a mere 0.10 DEC per day for a level 3.

Harklaw

Market Price | Buy

𝔓π”₯𝔬𝔱𝔬 𝔣𝔯𝔬π”ͺ π”ͺ𝔢 π”–π”π”©π”¦π”«π”±π”’π”―π”©π”žπ”«π”‘π”° π”žπ” π” π”¬π”²π”«π”±.

Even though Harklaw is a legendary monster, due to its overwhelming copies on the market, his price is really low at $2.29 at level 2. Normally, a level 1 legendary costs at least $10 but with 65,711 copies of legendary cards, the price is what it became.

Market Price | Rent

𝔓π”₯𝔬𝔱𝔬 𝔣𝔯𝔬π”ͺ π”ͺ𝔢 π”–π”π”©π”¦π”«π”±π”’π”―π”©π”žπ”«π”‘π”° π”žπ” π” π”¬π”²π”«π”±.

Rental price for Harklaw is much worse. At level 4, the costs is around 0.75 DEC per day. While it's bad for the investor's side, it's good for the player's side. Having low rental cost makes it really accessible to players allowing you to have higher qualities of play at higher levels.

Stats | Riftwing

At level 1, Flying and Scavenger are unlocked.

Abilities

Flying.png

Flying ability allows increases the evasion rate of the monster against non-flying's melee and range attacks.

This ability complements the other ability unlocked at level 5, which is Backfire that inflicts 2 damage to enemies that miss their attacks.

Scavenger.png

Scavenger ability increases the max health of this monster by 1 for each monster on the board that dies.

Scavenger is a good ability for Noxious Fumes for 2 reasons: First, Noxious Fumes ensures the death of a lot of monsters which will become food for this ability and, Second, Scavenger acts as a pseudo-heal for this monster. While the max health increase, the current health also increases.

Backfire.png

At level 5, Backfire is unlocked. Enemies that miss their attacks targetting this monster is inflicted by 2 damage.

Remember that magic damage does not miss unless the monster targetted has Phase ability. With the combination of Flying ability and high speed, Riftwing's Backfire can dish quite a lot of damage.

Headwinds.png

At level 8, Headwinds is unlocked. Reduces opponent's range damage by 1 with a minimum of 1. Any monster with 1 range damage before the effect applies are unaffected.

This is a good support ability in relation to Harklaw. Harklaw's Shield halves the range damage and if you can make the range damage 1, they will be negated as per the ability's effect.

π”„π”Ÿπ”¦π”©π”¦π”±π”¦π”’π”° π”‘π”’π”°π” π”―π”¦π”Ÿπ”’π”‘ π”žπ”Ÿπ”¬π”³π”’ π”žπ”―π”’ 𝔣𝔯𝔬π”ͺ π”–π”π”©π”¦π”«π”±π”’π”―π”©π”žπ”«π”‘π”° 𝔲𝔰𝔦𝔫𝔀 π”ͺ𝔢 π”žπ” π” π”¬π”²π”«π”±.

In terms of stats, Harklaw is only decent. He has high health and mediocre armor and only 2 damage. He is very subpar with Chain Golem who has the same mana cost of 8 but higher armor and melee damage.

Abilities

Shield.png

At level 1, Shield is unlocked. Shield halves any melee and range damage to this monster. Any 1 melee or range damage before this effect applies will negate the damage and make it 0.

This ability complements both the Demoralize and Headwinds abilities at higher levels.

Immunity.png

At level 2, Immunity is unlocked. This monster is unaffected by any negative status effect.

Poison, which your monsters can receive from Noxious Fumes rule set, is a negative status effect that is negated by Immunity ability.

Demoralize.png

At level 3, Demoralize is unlocked. Reduces opponent's melee damage by 1 with a minimum of 1. Any monster with 1 melee damage before the effect applies are unaffected.

Since Shield ability halves all melee and range damage, Demoralize is a strong combination with Shield ability. Without Demoralize, 2 melee damage will inflict Harklaw with 1 damage (reduction included). If Demoralize reduces the 2 melee damage to 1, then it becomes 0 since Shield ability negates any 1 melee damage before damage reduction.

Summoner: Thaddius Brood: Decreases opponent's magic damage and max health by 1 with a minimum of 1.
> These effects are the same with Silence and Weaken.

  1. Harklaw: Has Shield ability that halves the opponent's melee and range damage. Immunity ability negates any negative status applied to this monster.

The Immunity ability is the priority for this game which directly negates the application of Poison from Noxious Fumes rule of combat.

  1. Venari Marksrat: Has Martyr ability that increases the stats of monsters beside him when this monster dies.

Noxious Fumes ensures you that this monster will die allowing you to place him in between your strong monsters for his Martyr ability.

  1. Riftwing: Good monster for his mana cost and health ratio. At 4 mana cost, he already has 6 base max health which is increased by Scavenge ability for every monster that dies. Flying ability increases the chance of opponents missing their attacks and Backfire ability punishes those monsters missing their attacks by 2 damage.

Riftwing's Scavenge is a good abiltiy for this rule of combat. Noxious Fumes ensures that monsters will die. This is complementing with the Scavenge ability.

  1. Zyriel: Weapons Training gives damage type to monsters beside him that has no damage types. The type is equivalent to this monster's damage type and the damage is half of this monster's base attack rounded up. Life Leech increases this monster's max health by half the damage when it inflicts an opponent's health.

While the Weapons Training is strong and I can talk about it all day long, the more focus on this game is the Life Leech. At 3 damage, Zyriel gets 1-2 max health every time she damages an opponent's health. This allows her to restore some of the health which is constantly damaged by the poison.

  1. Will-o-Wisp: Has Flying ability that increases evasion rate against melee and range attacks. Weaken decreases opponent's max health by 1 as long as this monster is alive.

Weaken and Thaddius Brood's combination reduces the opponent's max health by 2. This speeds up the time the opponent will die from Noxious fumes by a whole round.

  1. Magi Necrosi: Has 3 magic damage in combination with Snipe ability that prioritizes non-melee and monsters that are not in the first position. Camouflage ability also protects this card from being a target of any attack unless he's on the first position.

Magic damage is a good on a normal day. It directly attacks the opponent's health. Poison also does that. However, Weak Magic protects the opponent from that strategy which reduces the effectiveness of the magic damage.

α—ͺIα—ͺ YOα‘Œα–‡ α”•Tα–‡α—©TEGY α—―Oα–‡KEα—ͺ?

Yes. The main strategy for this game is to ensure opponents would die first from Noxious Fumes. Weaken and Thaddius Brood solves that part.

Immunity, Scavenger and Life Leech allows me to have a plan B in which increase sustain until the first strategy is accomplished.

α—―α•Όα—©T α—―Iα’ͺα’ͺ YOα‘Œ Tα–‡Y α—ͺIα–΄α–΄Eα–‡Eα‘ŽTα’ͺY α‘ŽEα™T TIα—°E?

None. I think this is the best strategy I can do on this battle. However, a different strategy is changing Magi Necrosi for Revealer.

Since magic damage strategy is negated by Weak Magic, Revealer over Magi Necrosi is better for the Stun ability. Stun allows the chance of the target skipping their next turn. Stunned monsters are not allowed to attack or use their abilities for a turn while Noxious Fumes still deals damage to them.

The problem with this is you will have an extra 2 mana cost left over and a reduced 1 overall damage.

On Gold league onwards, you can unlock Revealer's Immunity ability starting at level 4. This makes him another good candidate for this rule of combat once you get at that point. Remember to have a summoner that has high enough level in order to keep this ability unlocked during that battle.

Harklaw and Riftwing in Noxious Fumes Rules of Combat
? π‘Ύπ’‰π’š 𝒐𝒓 π‘Ύπ’‰π’š 𝒏𝒐𝒕?

Yes. The combination of Immunity and Scavenge is really good on Noxious Fumes as it ensures the survivability of your team. While the two abilities are important, having good damage is also more favorable as it speeds up the process than waiting for the opponent to die from Noxious Fumes.
