Splinterlands is a game of predictions. It is like playing chess. If you can predict your opponent's move, you can counter it. A successful counter produces wins and rules of combat and limited available elements can help you lessen the factors.

With Taking Sides as a rule of combat, you can predict the highest chance of your opponent using the strongest core of their team. Earth has Obsidian so they mostly use magic damage, Life has General Sloan so they mostly use range. And for Death, they love to counter so you can predict what they wouldn't do and play it.

Camila Sungazer is a legendary summoner. She is very cheap to rent and a level 1 is good enough for max Bronze or low Silver.

-1 Melee Damage. Decrease the opponent's melee damage by 1 with a minimum of 1. This has the same effect as Demoralize.

Since Death has a lot of Sneak Melee monsters such as Silent Sha-vi or Undead Badger, Camila Sungazer's effect can impact these monsters without spending too much mana cost instead of using Disintegrator.

Djinn Chwala is a one-man tank. He has high health and decent armor. He also has good damage and the Thorns ability can increase that damage further.

Abilities

At level 1, Thorns is unlocked. Thorns inflict 2 melee damage to any melee monsters that attack this monster.

Since the opponent would most likely use melee sneaks, using Thorns is a good strategy. Even if they didn't, the opponent's monster on the 1st position would most likely be a melee monster so this would never go to waste.

At level 4, Enrage is unlocked. Enrage increases this monster's melee damage and Speed by half.

Enraged is a good ability for this monster since he has fairly high damage. Increasing by half means it increases to 4.5, in which, most likely, will be rounded up to 5. A 5 melee damage monster for 8 mana cost is insanely strong given that he would be able to attack.

At level 6, True Strike is unlocked. True Strike makes this monster to never miss his attack.

Regardless of whatever abilities the opponents has, even if this monster is blinded or the opponent has 20 speed, this monster's attack will never miss. It has the same mechanic as if this monster has magic damage, but his attacks can be blocked by armor.

Camila Sungazer: General all around summoner with low mana cost for Dragon Splinter

1. Djinn Chwala: A really strong melee monster with Thorns that is a good counter against melee builds.
2. Naga Assassin: I have an extra 2 mana so I decided to use a 2 mana cost, non-melee monster to avoid the opponent's Thorns ability.
3. Magi Necrosi: A really strong magic damage monster with Camouflage ability to protect herself from being targetted by attacks while having Snipe ability to focus on the opponent's support.

ᗪIᗪ YOᑌᖇ ᔕTᖇᗩTEGY ᗯOᖇKEᗪ?

Yes. Since the only allowed Splinters are Death and Dragons, I decided to go with Djinn Chwala for his Thorns ability.

Death have two main summoners, Thaddius Brood that decreases magic damage and Contessa L'ament that decreases range damage. This means using Magic and Range focused builds can be countered easily. Therefore, the best build for this is a melee build, which my opponent used.

Expecting that my opponent will use the same strategy, I went with a better Thorns monster, and chose Djinn Chwala.

You can even see in my opponent's build that he was expecting the same by using a Thorns monster at the back. He placed Cursed Windeku at the back to counter melee Sneaks. Unfortunately for him, I was a whole step ahead and combined Camila Sungazer's decreased melee damage with a Thorns monster which resulted to my win.

None. If I have Earth available, I would go with Quora Towershead but since it isn't, then I would say this is a good enough for a one time build. While it's not the best build, it's also not the worst and the scattered types of damage also makes it hard to be countered.

Djinn Chwala and Camila Sungazer in Taking Sides Rules of Combat

? 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒐𝒓 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒏𝒐𝒕?

I really don't use Djinn Chwala too much since I prefer defensive tanks or those with either Shield or Void then focus my damage from the back. However, on very limited rules like this, Djinn Chwala is really good if you can predict the opponent's moves properly.

Camila Sungazer is a good general summoner due to her low mana and ability. Since she's Dragon and not a Neutral summoner, she can also be used on Taking Sides rules of combat.
