Just like what I did in Chaos Legion, I bought a pack just to try out. I also don't have that much budget and I might be able to afford another one or two but since the bonus is at 10, I don't have enough saved up to get it so I'll instead just buy 1.

Instead, while I know it'll maybe a bit more expensive, I'm planning to buy singles probably a month after the release after the supply for the cards started to increase, therefore decreasing the average price of the cards. This would also give me some time to test out the cards in order to buy specifically what I would need.

However, this is my personal plan and in which, if you have around $35 that you can freely spend, I suggest getting one of those promo cards since I'm pretty sure that would at least fetch a good price if you decided not to use it.

Importance of Rebellion

As you can see in Splinterlands post, Untamed will be disabled for the Modern Format once Rebellion is released. This means if you're not going to buy packs, singles, rent, etc, you will only be playing with Chaos Legion that is only half of the card choices. You will be in a big deficit for not using these new Rebellion cards, which by the way, have new awesome perks in it when you use it.

I will link below my own post talking about the big changes that Splinterlands will undergo because of Rebellion including what I think will happen in Splinterlands in the near future:

Why Buy Rebellion Packs in Pre-sale?

presale promo card.PNG
Photo from Splinterlands.

"Each pack purchased during the PRE-SALE phase will reward the player with a chance to receive two exclusive Rebellion promo cards that will NOT be available in regular packs. In addition, players will compete on a PRE-SALE leaderboard to get exclusive rewards and the chance to design their very own Summoner!"

During Presale, you have an exclusive reward to get 2 free cards that will not be available in the regular packs. These two cards are from the airdrop and is also different from other airdrops that you would receive during the General Sale under the new system, "Conflicts."

If you're one of the big whales, supporting Splinterlands and the devs all this time, you might see yourself in the leaderboards as well. The top six accounts with the most total Rebellion booster packs purchased through the Splinterlands shop during the presale phase will win the opportunity to participate in the design of a Legendary Summoner card which will be one of the nine airdrop cards to be added into the Rebellion set.

By being in the top 6, not only you will have the privilege of creating a legendary card but also, have it. I do wonder if Splinterlands would allow something like a personal photo in there. I hope not and hoping that the design would kind of fit the image of the other Splinterlands monsters. That's just my wishful thinking but either way, this would be an awesome perk.

There are other perks you can get up to 250th place in the presale leaderboards that you can find here:

The Pre-sale Promo Cards

Now, let's talk about the two leaked pre-sale card airdrop.

The first one is Grimbardun Smith, a rare Rebellion monster that will buff up your defence.

For every 10 packs, each players can have a sure chance of getting a level 1 Grimbardun Smith card with 4% chance of getting a Gold foil version. These packs include tge bonus cards that you get for bulk buys as well giving you more chances of getting more of this card for leveling it up.

For every 250 packs, you will also be sure to get a gold foil of the said card. It doesn't tell though if you will only get a foil version or is this included as a bonus or it's just another one of the every 10 cards. (e.g. at 230th pack, you get normal foil (chance), at 240th pack, you get normal, at 250th you get gold (100%), at 260th pack, you get normal (chance)...)

The second one is Mantaroth, a legendary Rebellion monster that has the new Armor Strike ability, that increases its attack based on his current armor.

For every pack, you have 1% chance for getting a Mantaroth card with 4% chance of it being a Gold Foil. That means you have a sure chance of getting a Mantaroth card for every 100 packs bought in the pre-sale. At 2500 pack, you have a sure chance of getting at least 1 Gold Foil version of the card.

So, as an example, if you bought 500 packs, not only you get 5 Mantaroth Cards (some maybe Gold Foils), you also get 50 Grimbardun Smith cards with at least 2 of them being Gold Foils as well.

Rebellion Pack Cost and Promo Prices

pack cost.PNG
Photo from Splinterlands.

Each Rebellion Pack costs 5000 DEC. You can apply a up to 5 voucher tokens per pack reducing the total cost by 200 DEC per voucher tokens or 1000 DEC per 5 voucher tokens. So, for 1 Rebellion pack with 5 voucher tokens, it would only cost you 4000 DEC instead of 5000, which is around $3.64 according to Coingecko.

However, you don't need to recalculate everything. Like in the screenshot above, there's a little calculator there that would calculate the price including the voucher discount.

There is also a mini bonus for you for bulk buys. You can see this by hovering on these three buttons in the Splinterlands Shop Tab.

pack bulk.PNG
Photo from Splinterlands.

For buying
100-499
packs, you will get a 5% bonus pack (total of 105 packs for 100 packs)
For buying
500-1999
packs, you will get a 10% bonus pack (total of 550 packs for 500 packs)
For buying
2000+
packs, you will get a 15% bonus pack (total of 2300 packs for 2000 packs)

As mentioned before, these bonus packs also apply the bonus promo cards. So, if you buy 500 packs, you will also get 5 extra Grimbardun Smith Card since you will be getting 550 packs instead of 500.

Author's Note Banner.gif

That's about what I can talk about the Splinterlands Rebellion series for now. Honestly, I wasn't really active during the release of Chaos Legion and there wasn't as much change like this so this is actually more exciting.

presale ends in.PNG

However, it would take a week or two before the final release of the Rebellion pack at December 5, 2024. So, if you hadn't gotten any pack from the pre-sale, you still have a chance to get some during the General Sale. All of the packs, pre-sale or general sale, will and can only be opened after the release of Rebellion so it would take a bit more time before you can see those new awesome cards.

Either way, it's not an exagerration to say that it would be both chaotic and fun once the new Rebellion is playable. Some old strategies would be unplayable while new ones will be born. It will be exciting what will happen to Splinterlands and I do wonder if any of my past prediction will happen in the near future.
