Childhood memories

I guess it seems when you get older you think more and more about your childhood and how comfortable it was. I was lucky growing up in a safe area, with a loving great family and a neighborhood full of kids of my age. So my childhood was one big fiesta and that is what this is all about.

This is an answer to the weekly question from the 'Ladies of Hive' community:

What’s your favourite childhood memory/memories?

As said I had a really nice childhood and I remember only tremendous amounts of fund in there including outdoor playing, outdoor playing and more outdoor playing. This would often start in the woods which were very close to the place I used to live. We would ride bikes through the woods and chase each other.

We would play hide and seek behind the trees and even dig ourselves holes so the others couldn't find us. We would cover us all with vines for the full on army experience and this kept getting more and more advanced. I loved all of it.

We would play soccer on the street with everyone who would tag in during the evening. Most of these times would always happen after dinner when the sun was still up in the long summers. This wasn't normal street soccer, this was all kinds of variations with just a ball involved there.

There was a game where one player would have to kick the ball away as far as possible, and walk backwards with it, while during that time the others would play hide and seek again. To tage free you must touch the ball again. This was all done in the middle of the road, and occasionally we would get interrupted by a car passing by. Street safety wasn't really a big issue luckily. Again...my childhood was beautiful and easy.

There was also a game with a football where you had to shoot angles with the ball trying the kick it against the wall and out of range so the next player wasn't possible to get it anymore. I don't think this was anything of an official game anywhere, we made the rules up ourselves and all of a sudden they were the golden rules.

And then there was the aspect of us as kids starting to make a little money here and there. We would pass by the doors and ask people if they had little chorus for us for just a small fee like washing cars or so, or cleaning gardens.

Also a neighboring farmer had this autumn policy that he would accept acorns for $0.10 cents per kilo. He would use that as additional food for the animals on the farm during winter time. We saw this huge business model in there and starting collecting thing things like there was no tomorrow. This was the start of us getting value for doing something and that was cool stuff to learn.

I realize that my childhood was good and it was a lot safer and more loving than from a lot of other people. We can only be blessed for that fact because it is not something that you choose for as a kid, you just get thrown into it and deal with whatever you are thrown in.

With that luck, my childhood was how it was and I am who I am today.
