There Is More Important Than Financial Goals (LoH99)

September 14, 2022

Setting goals isn't actually my forte, as I find it disappointing when those on the list can not be achieved by the end of the target date. I often tell myself to just do whatever I can and acknowledge things that I can do more of without any pressure. Because when we set our minds to accomplish this or that, we tend to put ourselves under pressure and end up pushing ourselves to our limits.

However, we can't deny that when goals are set SMARTLY, they help us pursue what we truly want because our minds are focused on them rather than juggling multiple plates. Yet, this involves self-discipline and, again, a well-focused mind.

The last quarter of the year is approaching and many are probably checking their goals to see if they were achieved or not. Remembering my goals at the beginning of the year, that was to achieve a certain number of cryptocurrencies and others. But due to different circumstances, I opted not to pursue them and just accumulate what I can.

As what @irenenavarroart asked in the latest Ladies of Hive topic,

We are already in September and soon it will be the last quarter of the year. Do you have a specific goal you want to achieve by the end of the year? Tell us about it and what you are doing or will do to achieve it.

One main goal I have in the real world is to really increase my savings. It's almost five years that I've been working here abroad, but I feel like I still don't have much in my savings account. That's because a huge percentage of my earnings go to my family every month. The extras will be budgeted for my monthly allowance and the rest will be sent to my savings. Sometimes, when unexpected circumstances arrive that need financial support, I have no choice but to use my extra to send it to whoever needs it in my family.

Do you know the feeling of working more but getting less? That's a bitter reality. And the last time I invested my cash in certain crypto, it just plunged along with my investment. So my only way to make up for my losses is to do online side hustles, and that's also my way to save for my goals.

Meanwhile, in the crypto world, as I mentioned in one of my posts here, my goal is to achieve a $20K worth of crypto portfolio, and that's only possible by following an effective trading strategy and choosing the right cryptocurrencies to add to my portfolio. Additionally, cryptocurrencies are too volatile. So if the prices increase by the end of the year, then my portfolio will increase as well.

As for my Hive goal, my goal was to achieve 2000 HP before the year ends but @hivebuzz surprised me the other day with this notification.

I was notified about my 2K HP achievement, which means my goal was achieved. Yet, that is only the same with unrealistic profit in trading as some of them were delegated to different accounts and some were delegation received from others. My goal was to save 2000 through blogging alone. So based on my account and excluding all delegations, I still need to grind more to accumulate the remaining 20% of my Hive goal. And posting quality content and engaging with the community is the only way to achieve it.

We always have financial goals as we want to achieve that freedom. We want to live a worry-free life. However, that is a long-term goal that will be impossible to achieve this year unless we win the lottery instantly. Unfortunately, it's just a matter of luck and we shouldn't rely on it, but rather strive harder to achieve our goals.

While most of us are focusing on achieving financial and material goals, there is a more important goal than those things, and that is health goals. As the adage says, "health is wealth."

The goal that I am giving more attention to right now is to restore the healthy lifestyle I once had, back when I had no online side hustles yet. I may not have had much crypto and knowledge about blockchain before, but I am certain that my life was well-balanced, and I had no physical health issues.

To achieve my health goals, I recently went back to morning stretching and meditation at 6 in the morning. That's a perfect time for meditation, as I could see the sun rising in the east from our balcony. There isn't much noise on the road either.

I'm checking on my diet now as well, limiting the intake of gluten and lactose since I have intolerances to those food substances. I am into eating more vegetables and fruits than meat, except for holidays.

Along with my health goals, I limit myself to using my phone and interacting online to lessen strains on my eyes and arms muscles. There are always ways to stay active on the chain. But it doesn't mean we should put all the time into it.

We have more priorities in the real world that need to be taken into account. Financial goals matter, but health matters more.

So these are my goals for this year. I am inviting @charmingcherry @garrethgrey @sequioa to share their goals too.
