Most of you guys that have been following MobeyDick: which is our band and includes myself and @jasperdick (I mean, with surnames like ours, how could we pass that up?) will know that we do mostly original music, but we do love to throw in a few good covers in every set. We are apparently a bunch of music snobs though, which means that we have to wear a cover hat of shame every time we do a cover π€£ This stems from Jasper's PTSD after being a Barley Corn Committee member where cover music is severely frowned upon.
So... the last few gigs we've done (And I FUCKING HATE hats) we've brought an entire laundry basket of them onto stage with us.
This time around, and considering we're starting to sound more and more country, I decided to ask around and borrow a stetson from a friend. And Low and behold it was very blue indeed. And Then I was thinking about how dull I'd look when I would take the hat off for our originals. The solution was simple! I'd dye my hair to match the hat: BLUE of all colours!!!
Good heavens. I mean, my hair has been red, black, purple, blonde but never blue. Could I really pull this off?
So, here's my friends ad that got me going really, for hot pink hair (which I will be trying next) but I wanted it blue ππ
obviously, double the colour and the curling also meant it was a lot more expensive than the special so massive thanks babe @zakludick and you guys here on @ecency that throw me a vote here and there!
So, I am naturally a ginger underneath all this peroxide. It's actually more like a mousey dark blonde browney colour, but in the sun you can see the red, plus I, like my son, was born with pink fuzz all over my head in place of actual hair although he had quite a bit more of a mop of hair than me. But there's no doubt that the ginger gene is in there. Which is great and all... except when you're trying to go platinum blonde.
I normally suffer and buy two boxes of blonde and my hair starts falling out.... I mean, I eventually get it right like I did here when I went half red and half blonde: Claire's Makeup (and Hair) journey: Part 2 - Racy Rock n Roll Red and Blonde but honestly, you could see in the before pictures that my hair was extremely damaged and tired and the crappy quality of off the shelf dye was taking its toll
So, I called in the professional and my good friend Adelia Engelke at Dash of Beauty. I knew this was a big jump and I really didn't want to mess it up and let me tell you, I'm so grateful I did.
She truly took my hair from dull and drab and half grown out, plus I got fed up with the rat tails and hacked off my hair in the bath with a pair of scissors just before this, and not only did she fix everything, but she made me GLOW! There's nothing like a morning at the salon to make you feel like a princess and it did absolute wonders for my confidence and nerves.
We has such an incredible gig that night and I'm pretty sure my hair was at least partly responsible for that! YAY for BLUE HAIR and thanks babe for helping me fit the bill π at least they threw in a cut style and blowdry for Aime too, so we both kinda got birthday hair!
