Hi ladies and my fellow gentlemen. Ok so I am here again to indulge in this revelling topic or will I say question as I will be addressing the second question on the ladies of hive contest #89.

How would you describe the traits of a successful woman?.

So before we start going in deep about what trait(s) make up a successful woman in my opinion. Let's have a look-see at some of the successful women in the 20th century and what traits they possessed that led to their success.

The reason for me picking women from the 20th century is because in my opinion they have stood the test of time and now have life long experiences worth learning from. If I were to pick from the 21st century then I wouldn't be doing much in my opinion because these women still have more to learn as our environment is in a constant change.

Anecdote of Three Successful Women in the 20th Century and their Traits.

1. Marie Curie

Famously known as the mother of modern physics, due to her research on x-ray. She was a hard working woman giving her time solely to her work. She had a tough time with both family and education, but with perseverance gained the knowledge she seek. The trait we see here is hardwork and dedication to work. Marie died due to possible exposure to radiation. One would argue that it was because of her bond with her work . Biography From

2 . Margaret Thatcher
(Aka Baroness Thatcher, Aka Iron Lady

She was also a scientist but didn't do that for long as politics was her thing. She even got the nickname 'Iron Lady' for her uncompromising politics and leadership. Here we see determination and willingness to compete as a trait. These made her to be placed even above the women in her days as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Biography From

3 . Oprah Winfrey (Oprah)

She is the only one alive on my list. She was the richest African-American in the 20th century. Her acting and talk show was what put her on the limelight. The trait that can be observed in Oprah is consistency. She worked her way from high school days till she became famous. Also good friendships, despite her famous nature she had few close friends who had been with her since her 20's and helped her in every aspect including the 'O Magazine'. So, from this I will describe what I think are traits of a successful woman.

Traits of a Successful Woman in my Opinion

  1. Hardwork - The women listed above and others that have been successful, all worked hard for it. They didn't depend on anything or anyone for their progress. I think for a woman to be successful she must work even twice as much as a man. This is because they often have family to cater for and children to nurture. This alone is a workload, and so, hardwork remains the foremost trait of a successful woman.

  2. Consistency - Having to work hard is one thing, doing it regularly is another. It takes grit to wake up each day to a routine of work. If there isn't any constant effort to succeed then the hardwork put in will go amiss. For a successful woman being consistent in whatever field makes it easy to tackle problems when they do arrive

  3. Resource Management- Most of the women whose success stories are still song today started from little beginnings. Some of them had little or no sponsors and they found a way to adapt and become productive. I think without a good management of the available resources at ones disposal success will remain a mirage.

  4. Developing Meaningful Relationships- One thing that could mar success is bad relationships with people. This can translate from work to home and can damage ones ability to work productively. Maintaining good relationships on the other hand makes room for little improvements on personality and lifestyles, thus illuminating success.

I wouldn't be able to describe every single trait of a successful woman as they are mostly inherent and some peculiar. So you can drop some more suggestions in the comments below. I'll love to share them with my friends and also learn from them.
