Yes It’s that time again! It’s the time that Holland is at its most orange. Yes it’s orange because it’s the birthday of our King.
This is todays paper and after two covid years and not celebrating we had an outstanding day both at home behind the tv and outside where the flea markets were with all the stuff everybody kept in store for today. Finally celebrating again. And thats hat all dutchies did.
Our King Willen Alexander is 55 years old today and as a long time tradition the country and all citizens celebrate. There are fairs, flea markets, concerts and the King and his family visit a place in the Netherlands where he celebrates with all the people there.
But the day starts with getting freshly baked pastry all in orange to eat while we watch the celebrations on national tv. I blogged about it before throughout the the years here on the platform and the previous one but the celebration is important for fans of the monarchy.

Bike was orange already and perfect to go to the markets.
Others took their own transport.
We wore comfortable sneakers , they were perfectly matching the outfit.
This was absolutely heavenly and I enjoyed this sooo much !

This is when the royal family got of the royal bus in Maastricht. Watched from the television in the living room.

The pastry is so good ! It’s called a TOMPOUCE
It’s cookie dough with yellow pudding another cookie, glacé in orange and whipped cream. It’s delicious and yes not good for your diet.
But Joey didn’t care that much!

And how cute is our royal family ! Our royal highness King Willem Alexander, Queen Maxima and princesses Catharina Amalia, Ariana and Alexia. They were not alone all brothers and sisters from the king with their significant others always attend the royal party on this day. That was also with Willem Alexanders mother and grandmother.

The mayor of Maastricht wore a nice pink dress and she was with the king and told all he needed to know.

At the end of the visit around 14.00 there was a concert. And that was spectacular.

Our ing thanked all the people that attended and asked to think of all Ukrainers aswell. Freedom is everything.

The pictures are from the telethon on the first tv net NOS,
they do air live from Maastricht this year. I made the pictures from that telethon with my phone. But the NOS knows all and also has much background information and they exclusively have longer interviews than the mainstream tv broadcasters.
The family as a whole get a present that reflects all that’s happening in that part of Holland and celebrates with local heroes and people that did something for the community. It’s like saying this is what we do and he as a country’s leader will give it extra attention or something. I live the broadcasting, and always watch. There is no better source on all that happens today than NOS NED.1
We also watch with sewingcalss in an app group to see what our queen and her daughters are wearing. The manteau cape queen Maxima wore was so gorgeous that we will try to make a short version of what we wore. And the royals in fashion is always great to see. I loved Máxima’s outfit. Our future queen didn’t make a statement!
The interview with the King also showed that he is thinking of the war in Ukraine 🇺🇦 and we never heard that before from him and he was serious about the situation. I think a great thing to see and hopefully he can make a difference.
