Hello ladies, I hope everyone is doing well. It is another brighter day, and here I am participating in this contest because I have something to share.
It is most times unbelievable to believe how people see you and feel they know all about you and spread what they know around. It is quite fun to see and gets me giggling when the thought hits me.
Society belief is just another level of witchcraft as you would never know where your perceived attitude taken out from them would have gotten to. And when you get to find out, it becomes hard to start telling people that reverse is the case. You just have to swallow that and act like you don't know how they see you.
It is true that rumors spread like wildfire, and the truth is heard by few people who may never speak of it like they did with the rumors.
Society believes I am filled with ego! A pompous human who loves no one but herself, and when I first heard about that, I laughed so hard.
It was a very long time ago when I went to my parents' house for the weekend after leaving work very early on Friday. I was indoors for almost half of the next day, which was Saturday, until I decided to get something out when evening came.
Coming out, I was fortunate to meet a childhood friend, and I was so happy seeing her outside that I just started talking in my usual self with my lips moving very fast. I was talking to her while my friend was busy laughing. Hehe, and as I listened to her speak, a lady came to us, and she said to me;
"You smile and talk too. And you are very funny." I just smiled and thanked her as I turned to my friend and continued to listen to what she was saying, but the lady wasn't through with me, so she continued.
"I never knew you were like this. People say you are very arrogant and..." But before she could finish her statement, my friend started laughing.
She laughed so hard while pointing at me before she spoke, "Arrogant? You must have gotten the wrong person. Balikis isn't even close to that. She's the most playful being I have ever met on Earth. She is very kind, disturbs a lot, and is filled with a positive vibe."
Cleaning the tears that had already formed in her eyes due to intense laughs, my friend continued. "Having someone like her in your life is a blessing. She can go to any length to help friends and strangers in her power. I don't know what made you people conclude she's arrogant, but you got things wrong."
...and me, I was just standing right there with smiles on my face. Haha, I didn't even know what else to say, so I just laughed too.
Ever since then, the lady has always greeted me whenever she sees me, and she talks to me with so much happiness that I couldn't help giving her that same vibe.
I don't know if the news that I wasn't arrogant later spread like how the former did, I never cared to ask. I just continued living my life as always without letting the beliefs of the society get under my skin.
You can't satisfy people, and no matter what you say or how you act, people will always have something to say about you that doesn't align with who you truly are. And, well, that's their business.
