Money and Surgery// Loh #177.

I was scrolling through my WhatsApp status some days ago when I saw a familiar yet unfamiliar face. I had to look well to be sure I wasn't dreaming because I knew who she was and how she was. Yeah, I know puberty changes a lot in a lady/woman, but I know when last I saw her for puberty to do such a fine job on her.

And then I knew something had taken place... yeah, cosmetic surgery! What else? However, I can't say it is a pity because I know how well everyone has a right to their choices, and it is right by what they believe, especially where they are from.

In a country like mine, there are certain things you'll do that will make people reprimand you because it isn't our style. It isn't the mentality we grew up with. The fact is that we see it as an insult to the maker and would never venture into it.

And I know that there are countries like Korea where these things are normal as long as the money to undergo it is available.

While scrolling through Hive this morning to read posts as usual , I came across a post by @kenechukwu97, which speaks about the advantages and disadvantages of technology. He made mention of the health sector, which brought me to the topic by @ifarmgirl in the Ladies of Hive community contest which states;

If money is not an issue, would you consider having cosmetic surgery to enhance your appearance? Which part of your body would you want altered? Share your opinion with us.

In his opinion, technology is a good tool if we are to look at the health sector, which I agree with. Gone were the days when people died of health diseases, which can be easily treated now.

However, when I saw the question by @ifarmgirl, my first thought was,Why did cosmetic surgery come into play in our existence? Just like how I read that the reason makeup came into existence was because the lady that brought it in created it as a way to cover up her scars. Although, the way some people wear makeup now, it is hard to see their natural look anymore because they are always on it, which I believe they have the right to do.

But, we all know there's a side effect to these things, which is why it is believed that too much of everything is bad.

I have never had the thought, and I don't think it'd ever sneak into my mind like a ninja. The fact is that I can proudly say it is not of my interest no matter how much money is oozing out of my fingers.

If truly I am in a situation where money isn't the problem. The least of my concerns is cosmetic surgery. I like my body the way it is as a woman and wouldn't want to alter anything about it. Maybe it is because of the belief I have that as a woman who is ready to give birth, surgery isn't right because doing that could damage some tissue and also the drug taken or injection needed to be used to maintain it is something I won't like to go into. The stress is unnecessary.

Also, what if an accident occurred and it hurt where the surgery was made? The pain of undergoing another surgery in the same place isn't a road I'd want to venture into.

The thing is that humans are insatiable with everything. And seeing there's something to enhance their beauty, they'll continue craving for more and more until it kills them. We've heard stories of how some people who undergo surgery lose their life in the process and not even a surgery that was needed, but the one they believe they had to do to enhance their beauty.

I am not scared of needles. It is the least of my worries whenever I am sick, which means going into cosmetic surgery isn't a big deal to me because I am not afraid. However, despite the fact that I am not scared of pins, I can't stand surgery, especially cosmetic surgery! It is a belief I have as a lady to never go into, and I am keeping it that way no matter what.
