Reflecting On My Past ||LOH #162||

In response to this question,

Which would you prefer: to be able to see the future or to be able to see the past?

I would prefer to see the past because there are a lot of things done in the past, both wrong and right, that can be seen and analyzed to have a proper and good landing in the future. See the reason below why I chose to see the past:

Learning
There is a saying that goes that experience is the best teacher, so experience from childhood, as a teenager, or as a youth can all be revised because, contemporary now, I am not how I was while I was growing up; I have been more exposed and acquired more knowledge and wisdom, and I have an idea about how some things can be done better than the way they were done then. Examining past actions or decisions allows for learning from experience, both positive and negative. This will help provide valuable insight into what was done well, bad, or what could be improved, which will aid personal growth.

Self-Reflection
This aspect speaks about reflection on oneself; it is just like having a duplicate of yourself in front of you, and you begin to see what you couldn't see by yourself, and you get to see it in front of you. This will then help me reflect on my actions and decisions, and whatever I get from the reflection will help promote self-awareness in the sense that it will help me understand my strengths and my weaknesses. This will also help me know how to balance my future and work on my weaknesses. I can call this self-management because I can't learn it out there. In one way or another, my intellect grows.

Building Resilience
Having to identify my weaknesses helps me know why I had some challenges while growing up and why I couldn't overcome them, but being able to see the past will give me a great opportunity to overcome such challenges in the future. Also, seeing the ones I overcame and how I did it will help me build resilience. Knowing that I have navigated such difficulties before instills confidence and a belief in my ability to face future challenges.

Enhancing Relationship
Giving me the opportunity to see the past will help enhance my past relationships. Understanding past interactions and their impact on my relationship will help me cultivate healthier relationships and learn from the pattern of communication in the past, which will help me make positive adjustments.
