This is my participation post on Ecotrain question of the week. This is my first entry on Ecotrain weekly activities and I found it very useful and interesting so I decided to participate in it. Also due to special support by Ecotrain, it is our responsibility to take part in such important activities. Let's get back to the actual topic:
If not you then who?
If not now then when?
Well I think both the questions are deeply interconnected and are very good questions which are both related to our way of living and can bring a positive change if we can find the right answers to them.
To me the we have two different types of responsibilities as a human being. These are:
1. Family Responsibility
2. Social Responsibility
We have several different roles to perform in both the above responsibilities. While with our family, we should be kind and loving to our spouses and should take special care of every individual of the family. In family life, we have again many roles:
- Husband
- Wife
- Father
- Mother
- Son
- Daughter
- Brother
- Sister
All above blood relationships are very close and we have a natural attraction in all those relations. So we have nothing to do here as owing to our nature, we are obliged to fulfill all our responsibilities towards our family members.
However...
What about our second responsibility?
Do we understand it?
Do we fulfill it?
Are we really serious about it?
Are we the ones who do it?
Are we really doing it now?
These are some important questions which we should answer in our Social Responsibility. And this is the area which we never take serious and think about. I can give few examples of our weaknesses towards our roles in our societies.
We keep our homes clean but we don't think of our neighborhood to be kept clean.
We don't protect our society from bad deeds and just try to keep a good environment inside our home.
We keep our own garden green and healthy but we never think of keeping our cities green and healthy.
Question arises...
Why don't we? And why don't now?
Well, because I think we don't think that those are our responsibility and we never accept it. So that's the reason we don't take part in fulfilling our roles in our societies. Another concept is that everyone thinks that why do I take initiative to do any good to society and community? and that let others do it. Off course, if everyone has such kind of thoughts and mentality then definitely no one will ever come to take the initiative towards the good acts in the community.
In the end, we should try to understand our responsibilities towards our communities and take the initiative accordingly to improve our communities and protect our environment and land and keep it neat and green. We should also appreciate all those who promote community activities and work for a collective goals of the community rather then personal goals. In this perspective, I appreciate and solute the @ecotrain who are supporting the community specially promoting those who do good to the community and our lovely Homeland. Also the support of @tribesteemup towards the community is appreciated.
