What I Am Doing, To Stay Balanced and Positive Whilst on Lockdown. - EcoTrain Question Of The Week!

In the beginning, I was finding it quiet easy to remain positive, because I am generally quiet an optimistic person. I like to see the best in people and to focus my energy on what we can do, instead of focusing only, on what is happening. The earth needs us to be active, to find solutions and to not turn away and be submissive.

For me, life is what you make of it, we create our reality by the way that we think how we act and how we react

So initially, I continued on as I usually do, spending my days on the land with my girls, growing food, foraging for medicinal herbs and focusing on providing them with a nurturing and stimulating environment. My days are always full, so being confined at home was not a huge deal for me, not at first anyway.

I like to stay informed, I know that there is much more going on than this "virus", that the measures that have been taken, the restrictions that we have been put under, are all so that something can be rolled out whilst we are all distracted. I am just not 100% sure what that is, but I know it is not good.

Because of this I have been going from being calm to feeling very overwhelmed, we are definitely at a turning point, things will never return to what they were. Which is of course a good thing as well, because we all know that life could not continue as it was.

We have seen such beautiful acts of humanity and we are hopefully looking at a time of awakening. I knew 2020 was going to be a big year, but wow this, I was not prepared for this, for the roller-coaster of emotions that I am experiencing, the doubt that creeps into my thinking as so much is uncertain. But then I have been on a roller coaster for the last 2 years. So maybe I am prepared for this, maybe these last 2 years were all about preparing me and everyone else that have gone through such challenging times.

That last sentence that it wrote, is a perfect example of how writing has been helping me to stay balanced. Writing has always helped me to process what is going on in my life, it is one of my greatest forms of expression and we all need to be more creative right now. To connect with that fiery side of ourselves and use this time to explore and express who are.

to be gentle, as our fire roars,
to be strong, letting our tears flow,
To be true,
to our ever spiralling form,
that carries us
from the depths of our sorrow
to the self reborn.

A part of a poem that I wrote over a week ago, helping me reconnect with who I am, whilst keeping me grounded.

Talking of being grounded. I am so aware of how lucky I am, to live on this beautiful piece of land, where me and my girls can roam around each day. Whenever I am feeling over whelmed, I just have to step outside, put my bare feet on the earth and inhale deeply, whilst taking in my surroundings. Because this is my reality right now, I do not know what tomorrow brings but, today, right now, I am here surrounded by ancient olive trees, numerous fruit and nut trees and the sound of birdsong. This really helps to ground me, to bring me into the present.

Another thing that really helps me, is dance. When I move my body, when I put on some music and just let it take me away, it takes me out of my head and into my heart. I can so easily get lost in the music and dancing has always been my favourite form of meditation. I have always felt so free when I dance, and it really helps me to stay balanced and positive. Above is a positive tune, that I have been dancing round to, whilst the lockdown has been going on.

Growing My Own Food

Having my garden, gives me the opportunity to get my hands in the soil. To let my energy combine with the energy of the seeds, to marvel at their magic as they sprout and grow to provide me and my girls with nutritious food to eat. It keeps me connected to the earth and allows me to feed back into the natural cycle of life, by looking after the soil, just as it looks after me. Reminding me that this is what life is all about. I also have an abundance of wild medicinal plants on the land and seeing them flourish really brings me joy. As they say it is the simple things in life that matter the most and right now that is what is carrying me forward.

The Food I Eat!

We are what we eat, what we consume has a huge affect on our overall well being, so I make sure that me and my girls eat wholesome food. I start my day with a super green smoothie and as the day progresses I make sure that my girls and me have plenty of fruit to snack on as well. We make our own nut milk from the Almonds we harvested on the land as well as our own nut butter. I also drink water kefir everyday and if we fancy something sweet, then I make bliss balls, with my super seed mix, dates and carob or cacao. Whatever awaits us, I want me and my girls to be healthy.

Listening to and Observing My Children.

My girls inspire me all the time, they are so resilient and they always make the best out of every situation. If you ever need a lesson in being mindful, then give your children freedom, and watch and learn. They live in the moment, to them this is all that there is, it is all that matters and they make the most of it. Filling their time with so much joy and happiness. Of course there are tears as well, but the tears and the anger are a huge part of life, letting yourself feel all of those things, allowing those emotions to come out. That is what will help us all stay balanced.

These are challenging times indeed and it is so easy to get swept up in the negative. But life will always continue on and we will find ways to rise up and face what lies ahead. We are all full of so much potential and we have needed a huge wake up call for quiet a while now.

Life as we know it is changing, but so are we. We are connected now, more than ever, never before have we all experienced the same thing at one time. This confinement, these feelings of disbelief and unease, that come with it, are all feelings of grief. It is a part of us letting go of what we once had, so that we can prepare to move forwards.

I have created a Patreon account so if anyone wishes to support me, please do, I will be sharing poetry and words of empowerment.
