To answer this question, we need to look at the disparity between technology and spirituality.

Spirituality seeks to establish a balance between the physical world and the world beyond, with a belief in the existence of a supernatural being, while technology is built mostly to solve the needs of the present world.

Science through which technology emanates from does not believe in anything outside the physical world and thus, the technology they build most times counters the spiritual beliefs and practices. For example, technology offers people an avenue to carry out birth control and euthanasia, Spirituality sees birth control and euthanasia as a sin against life.

The disparity will continue because they do not share the same belief, but the fact remains that technology and spirituality can be beneficial to each other.

Technology can make spiritual practices easier with the creation of things like megaphones which enable a preacher's message to be heard in a large crowd, a digital Bible that reduces the burden of carrying the Book form of the Bible, meditation application, and many more. Spirituality on its part can help direct technology towards good than evil. For example, in the past, technology has been used to create epidemics aimed at population control but with the intervention of spirituality, the use of the system has reduced.

To me, technology and spirituality will exist together. The problem is that most times we allow our spirituality to make us see technology as evil.

I remember a sad incident that happened during my one-year national youth service to my fatherland. This woman was living behind our lodge. She was diagnosed with breast cancer, and instead of following technological remedies, she allowed her spirituality to be her destruction. Instead of going to the hospital with the money being sent to her, she gave out the money to her pastor with the belief that God will heal her. It wasn't long before she died of breast cancer. If we analyze this situation, you will agree with me that the woman made the mistake to reject technology for the sake of spirituality. I heard within the period that the woman died, that there is a church where members do not take medication when they are sick. They resort to holy water and prayer. This is where we misplace things, and I feel sad to see gullible people being deceived by the so-called man of God, who teaches them all these things. If not God, who then bestows the Knowledge through which good technology is built?. To reject a good technological product for sake of spirituality is to subject oneself to dangers.

Today, if there weren't technology, life would be difficult for us. We will have to travel long distances on foot to go to church. Our worship may not be lively if not for musical instruments made available by technology. So, removing technology from spirituality is something that is not feasible.

In the end, we should seek a balance between our spiritual beliefs and the use of technology. When we encounter technology that may affect our spirituality, we have the power to reject them but let the reason for the rejection not be illogical like the woman who refused medical attention just for the sake of spirituality. We just need to select the good ones from the bad ones and we will be able to live our spiritual life well while making use of technology. Many people in an attempt to prove that technology and spirituality cannot exist miss the mark. There is always a balance in every two contradicting things.
