Reckoning With What Is Possible

Coming to accept that every possible scenario which one can imagine can become possible is being a realist, but imagining a negative outcome out of every event is being pessimist. Nevertheless, it's very easy to mistake being realistic to being pessimistic and this is because reality can go both ways, it's like probability. Throwing a die and waiting for all the expected outcome.

Now having the sense of expectation that a die would have a certain outcome, creates an unrealistic mindset, because the other outcomes which we might refuse to reckon is a possibility. Being realistic in life comes with much reckoning. It is being superlatively aware or choosing to acquaint oneself with the truth of facts and figures that could interpret what the truth should mean.

What Is Deemed Pessimistic

Being pessimistic on the other hand can be proven practically. If I throw the same die and expect a negative outcome, it contradicts the fact that a positive outcome is a probability. Being pessimistic is allowing our feelings, fears or insecurities to cloud our sense of reasoning. There's no objectivity to how we see reality. Maybe due to an experience we tend to go into every venture, expecting the same negative outcome. In this instance, we're not open to reality.

The world, the universe our lives, can turn out very good as much as they can do the opposite. Sometimes our actions can determine which way, sometimes they cannot. Sometimes our efforts would matter, sometimes, they wouldn't. However, this is almost the same for being an optimist.

What Is Deemed Optimistic

Being an optimist, is seeing positive nuances prevailing over negative nuances. It's overly good to be an optimist because mostly we see a need to believe in humanity irrespective of its deteriorating nature in some particular aspects. Being optimistic creates that "can do" spirit within people, they're overly motivated even in the face of difficulties and challenges.

However, being overly optimistic can create hopeful illusions of which when it turns out to become a façade can make an optimistic person become a pessimist. Of course, an optimist can lose their nature, and this is because of a constant change to their hopeful expectations. When people are constantly disappointed, it changes what they believe and what they do not and this has a way of influence who they generally become going forward.

Finding "A Balance"

Nevertheless, these instances have its perks and disadvantages as well. In life, being a realist is the combination of being optimistic and pessimist. While this might be a little aggrandized, we can come to see reasons as to why it is so. Being pessimistic isn't overly disadvantageous, it can negative auras which can be putrid, it's why we need to find an equilibrium. Life is about balance, or should be about balance.

We cannot tilt to one tide. The abilities to be open to so many diversities, differences and chances makes us attain that state of balance. Being realistic is all. Why? This is because we're objective. Some of the things we imagine or envisage might be negative, but sometimes this is as a result of the possibilities that revolves around a situation. Knowing the fact that one can be sacked from their work at anytime is being realistic.

Tendencies Can Be Determinant

This is because there are conditions that surrounds such situation that makes the mind create different possibilities. This means positive circumstances around a situation would create positive vibes as well as favorable possibilities. It can mean that our thoughts, either negative or positive, is being fuelled by something. It is how wired we are. We tend to respond to our present conditioning in attitude and behavior and disposition, and while this constancy can make people pessimists or optimists in the long run. It's important to find that balance.

For instance, I've been going through internal crises. Finding it hard to stay motivated, this might be due to the fact that I fear disappointment, as feedback. My thinking however still remains realistic, irrespective of how I fear unpleasant circumstances, I still cultivate hope to keep me afloat.
