Studio, First Tilling Of Year, Scouts - Wednesday

The first part of the day was spent in the studio putting the window framing back in and then installing the curtains. The curtains are more to block sunlight from bleaching anything inside since it is a craft studio and we will have yarns and fabrics on the shelves. I have left a gap on the top for some ambient lighting and also since I have the front overhang which blocks the sun effectively.

With the curtains put up on the upper windows that meant that the scaffolding was no longer needed so I was able to take it apart and set it outside. That opened up a large area where I then put together the second shelving unit. With them both on casters it makes moving the shelving around nice and easy. This one has only the 4 shelves so we can put larger containers on it.

With the studio now just about finished and Spring fully upon us I pulled the tiller out and worked the garden spot that I had recently piled the chicken manure on. I had a small problem with the tiller that I had to remedy before I could work. The tiny little bracket that holds the cable that engages the tines had come loose and needed to be bent a bit. With the cable tight again I was able to get it all tilled quickly.

For scouts the kids learned how to fold a flag then how to make a litter to carry another person. Each of the kids got turns in the litter and the others picked them up. It was great to see them all team up on the litter at once.

We finished off the meeting with some basics then let them go run off a sugar load.

Today the sheep need a new bale rolled into their pen, the boys will be working on cleaning in the house so I can vacuum the floors, the weather is nice so we will be outside a bunch too. The rest of the garden is getting dry enough that I will be able to start the tilling soon.
