Rain, Picking, Scout Outing At Lake, Garden - Tuesday

So nice to wake up to thunder at 4:30 am then have the sound of rain for the early hours of the morning. The system was lined up to stream right over the farm and it dumped .19 inches of rain which we DESPERATELY need. Monday and Tuesday were the first measurable rain we have gotten in over a month.

I got soaked tromping through the squash picking. I ended up with 30 pounds put into the cooler. I have to try and find an outlet for this week's squash as the co-op did not get it. 200 pounds needs to go somewhere before they start to go bad.

5 full size cucumbers and 2 partials got picked. The partials I pulled since they won't grow correctly with their shape.

At noon we were at the lake 3 miles from the farm for our cub scout outing. J got to carry the flag for the ceremony and they did the pledge, scout law, and oath.

Each of the boys got their ranks and awards. J is now Tiger rank and in September he will start working on his Bear rank. @stryeyz took some time at lunch to come for the awards and both my parents were there to watch as well.

After the short awards ceremony the boys all went down to the lake and went swimming for a while as the hotdogs were getting grilled. After eating they ended up back in the water playing some more until about 2:30 when we took off for home.

I the evening I was in the garden and I got cages put around more of the pepper plants. They are starting to get tall and I want to have the support around them so branches don't break off once the peppers start to weigh them down.

Took a little walk out to the road to see how the construction is going. They are trying to get the first 600 feet of the road done which is the section in the shot. The business on the corner, the 4 homes including us, and the need for an area to stage vehicles for the pilot car they will have are driving their push. It is going to be soooooo much nicer once it is done. The road was so bad the area right around the rollers had big potholes and with the semis regularly coming down there was this massive banging each time they hit it. Now no more thankfully.

Today I have to pick squash first, then more beans to fill the orders for Friday, bag the beans into half pound bags, move a new bale into the sheep pen, and move the butcher gear to the coop since our friend is coming over this evening with 10 birds we will butcher tomorrow, @stryeyz's parents get into town this afternoon for a visit, and I am going to find out if a pair of 10lpm/20psi oxygen concentrators are still available locally which I would love to have so I could start glass blowing again.
