It wont have escaped anyone’s notice that city centres are not what they used to be. Far from the days of endless commerce and office life, they have been abandoned. Most of the smaller retail shops have gone bankrupt, and many will never reopen even if our lock downs end. The days of needing face to face communication to run a business have also changed, and almost everyone has now made the shift to working from home and that being totally acceptable. This is in my opinion a great thing as the amount of time and energy that was wasted by travelling, and indeed spending all day every day in an office environment needed to end.
The mood of our commercial system has shifted. Only the very biggest and powerful companies will survive this great shift, and only those that operate online will be making it through to the other side. What is clear is that our city spaces are no longer being used in the way they used to be, in fact they are hardly being used at all! This includes the roads, and the plethora of massive office spaces that shape and cover almost every square inch of our cities worldwide.
So, this weeks question of the week asks you.. What would you like to see happen to our city spaces? We have vast areas of roads and sidewalks, shops, offices and parks. Just imagine what could happen in those spaces? What would you like to see happen? We could use this space in so many ways it boggles the mind, only our imagination is the limit. This week im not going to give any ideas because im so curious what you guys are going to come up with! I can hardly imagine to be honest ... what WILL we do with all this space in the coming years ahead!
Lets imagine a bright and beautiful future for ourselves, and put it out into the ether. Who knows what effects our words and ideas can have.. Who KNOWS who may read your post.. perhaps even the people who will decide! :=)
