ecoTrain Question of The Week — Have you Witnessed a miracle?

Miracles do happen, and the interesting thing is that it happens every day, every moment. However the most appreciated/recognised ones can be seen as long term miracles — miracles of a long suffered ailment being healed for instance or miracles of a long desired request being granted. And I have witnessed a lot of them.

I have witnessed a miracle of a woman who tested positive to HIV/AIDS but later returned a negative result after an encounter with God in a special programme organised in my church — Christ Holy Church, Asaba. It was unbelievable, but yes it happened and I was in the church when she came back to give her testimony.

According to her narratives, she contracted the virus through her late husband. Who was unfaithful to her while alive. He probably got it from one of his concubines and unknowingly passed it on to his wife. She described how disappointing it was when she ran a test and it came out positive. She wondered how she got as she has been faithful to her husband. So she insisted that the husband have his own test. Disappointedly, it came out positive.

Knowing that the disease is not yet curable, she couldn't do anything rather than face her new reality. However she never gave up in prayers. She kept praying to God to show his presence in her situation.

On the fateful day of the miracle, she came to church like she normally does. But this time, it was a program organised by the general overseer of the church. She stated that a lot of things discouraged her from coming to church on that day. She felt weak from the inside, but she just managed to force herself to come, as she believed in the promises of the programme — which were healing, divine visitation, unmerited favour and so on.

During the prayers, the man of God raised a prayer point, of which she felt was directed at her. She prayed with all conviction that God had taken the disease away. And after she said Amen to the prayer, she felt light, as a burden seemed to be taken away from her.

The next day, she felt she should have a test again. But miraculously, it came out negative this time. The doctor was so shocked that he had to ask her what she did. And she replied to him saying that only her God can answer that.

This is a miracle at the highest order. Her testimony was so emotional that more than half of those in the church cried in thanksgiving to God.

I have also witnessed a miracle of a woman who was barren for more than 25 years but finally conceived when God remembered her. Despite the overwhelming odds against her conception, she finally conceived. I believe this is what makes miracle to be attributed to supernatural power. Because physically, it seems not possible.

As believers, we are entitled to numerous miracles in our lifetime.

Thanks for coming around.
