Esta es la primera vez que escribo sobre este tema delicado para mí: Ecología y Ambiente. Llevo algún tiempo estudiando sobre esto y lo hago por una decisión muy personal de preocupación y deseos por conectarme de diferentes maneras con nuestra madre tierra.
Cada cierto tiempo tomó algunas clases sobre diferentes tópicos relacionados con la naturaleza y el pasado viernes en la Universidad Popular del Ambiente estaban ofreciendo una conferencia sobre el Amazonas aprovechando que se conmemoraba el día mundial de la Amazonía.
This is the first time that I write about a subject that is very sensitive for me: Ecology and environment. I have been studying about this for some time and I do it for a very personal decision of concern and desire to connect in different ways with our mother earth.
Every so often I take some classes on different topics related to nature and last Friday at the Universidad Popular del Ambiente they were offering a lecture on the Amazon taking advantage of the fact that it was commemorating the world day of the Amazon.
Yo no me imaginaba que existía un día mundial de la Amazonía e imagino que ustedes tampoco lo sabían, ¿o si?, de forma que el 10 de febrero es el día mundial de la Amazonía. Por otra parte, gracias a las últimas clases que he tomado en la Universidad Popular del Ambiente, también conocí que los días mundiales son promovidos por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas, ONU sobre algún tema o situación específica que requiere una acción colectiva por parte de la sociedad civil. Es una cuestión de visibilizar algo importante.
Por supuesto que nuestra Amazonía es un tema importante de forma global porque se trata del pulmón vegetal del planeta, para nosotros los suramericanos se trata de un frágil ecosistema que afecta directamente nuestro hábitat, pero para la población mundial en general es importante saber la importancia que tiene como fuente pura de oxígeno, aire limpio para todos, y así como de alguna manera esta fuente de oxígeno es para todos, las acciones perjudiciales para el ambiente que se desarrollen en cualquier rincón del mundo también pueden afectarle a la cuenca amazónica.
I did not imagine that there was a world day of the Amazon and I imagine that you did not know either, did you, so that February 10 is the world day of the Amazon. On the other hand, thanks to the last classes I have taken at the Universidad Popular del Ambiente, I also knew that world days are promoted by the United Nations Organization, UN on a specific issue or situation that requires collective action by civil society. It is a matter of making something important visible.
Of course, our Amazon is an important issue globally because it is the plant lung of the planet, for us South Americans it is a fragile ecosystem that directly affects our habitat, but for the world population in general it is important to know the importance it has as a pure source of oxygen, clean air for everyone, and just as somehow this source of oxygen is for everyone, actions harmful to the environment that are developed in any corner of the world can also affect the Amazon basin.
Así de simple, de esta manera, una conocida hambruna histórica que se desató en Rusia en la época de los zares imperiales fue consecuencia de la explosión de un volcán en Chile, cuyas cenizas se difuminaron por el mundo, afectando en el caso de Rusia los principales sembradíos, por ejemplo de trigo. Así como las tormentas del desierto del Sahara cada cierto tiempo se levantan, de forma que a Sur América llegan las nubes de arena a enriquecer los suelos.
Les estoy contando de forma muy apasionada lo que aprendí en esta conferencia en la que participé como oyente y cosas interesantes que he visto en mis clases y que están relacionadas.

Una de las informaciones que más me conmovió, fue enterarme de que existe un Observatorio Regional Amazónico que está preparado para monitorear las variables más importantes que ayudan a los investigadores a estudiar el comportamiento de los efectos del cambio climático en este importante ecosistema.
Lo mejor de todo fue saber que este observatorio tiene su página web con abundante información al servicio de todos los que necesiten familiarizarse con el tema, bien sea por motivos académicos, como por sencilla sensibilidad hacia el tema ambiental.
One of the pieces of information that moved me the most, was learning that there is an Amazon Regional Observatory that is prepared to monitor the most important variables that help researchers to study the behavior of the effects of climate change in this important ecosystem.
The best of all was to know that this observatory has its web page with abundant information at the service of all those who need to become familiar with the subject, either for academic reasons or for simple sensibility towards the environmental issue.
Bueno, aquí viene lo más alucinante, motivada por la gran información que recibí en esta clase, comencé a investigar por mis propios medios en la página web del observatorio y mi cerebro estuvo a punto de estallar de tanta información importantísima que allí hay contenida, la metodología del sitio web me gustó muchísimo, todo tiene bases en investigación científica y son datos que necesitan ser difundidos y concientizados y es por ese motivo que traigo en mi blog alguna de las infografías que están allí esperando ser conocidas por el mundo para que hagamos conciencia de nuestro destino.
Well, here comes the most amazing part, motivated by the great information I received in this class, I began to investigate by my means in the observatory's website and my brain was about to explode with so much important information that was contained there, I liked the methodology of the website, everything is based on scientific research and are data that need to be disseminated and raised awareness and that is why I bring in my blog some of the infographics that are there waiting to be known by the world to make us aware of our destiny.
