It is a strange day of waiting.
Yesterday a new coin Koin started with distribution phase by CPU mining that will last for 6 months. More about the project you can find in @andrarchy's announcement HERE. Mining is done on Ethereum so you will need ETH for gas fees. There is a setting on how often do you want to submit proof (every proof cost you gas fees), and setting that will determent number of coins you can get and how hard will it be to find it.
Yesterday i tested the miner and set it up to submit proof every hour, and after some time i got myself some coins. After that i set it on 1 a day, and 18 hours later, nothing.
Today i wanted to test an old laptop with i7 second generation CPU. Set on every 2 hours. And CPU goes for 1.2MH/s on average. 4 hours later, nothing. I am still not sure how this works (looks like no one is) but it looks like if you are not mining with fast CPU, longer period of proof submitting will be hard to mine with older CPU's. If anyone knows it that is not true, please correct me in the comments.
So i woke up not a Koin whale (i was not surprised) but i also woke up in a room that was a bit cold (was surprised as i thought CPU will give out more heat)
Waiting to see what will happen.
In other news, Hive HardFork is currently happening (probably?). They said it will start 4 hours ago, but 7 witnesses are still running the old version of the code. One of them is Blocktrades, maybe he is waiting for everybody else. I am getting some errors while writing this, so not the best time to write a post, maybe no one will see it. We will see.
So we are waiting.
I need to upgrade my camera, my Canon 80D is having some quirks in video mode. it still works fine, but sometimes it just goes stupid. I can't really check the shutter count, but i feel i am in the high numbers. Upgrade would be nice, and upgrade to Full frame would be even nicer.
A month ago i started looking at new Canon R6 (R5 sounds great, but the price is over the top, and i would have to change all my sd cards, and most probably do a heavy upgrade to my PC and that would add a bunch to the price). ONLY one shop in my country is currently selling it, and a moth ago the said to me to wait till October as there will be some discounts on some camera/lens combinations.
And i thought how nice of them.
Today i contacted them, no discounts, and there is a waiting list for the camera. WTF? The camera is 3 months in the market, and only one store in the whole country is selling them, and there is a waiting list? Is Canon making them on demand? Are they waiting for an order to start the assembly? I am invested in Canon gear (and i suck at selling things), and i like canon cameras, but they kinda fucked it up with the overheating drama and really shitty distribution. Also the feeling from the sellers is like they don't want to sell. I feel that they would be more interested in selling when you want to buy something that costs more then my current car.
So i am waiting to find out how the waiting list is working, and how much would i have to wait.
And at the end, tomorrow is the deadline for a 3 months business tax submission, and yes you guessed it right, i am waiting for a client to bring me papers so i could submit it.
Update:
After almost 5 hours of mining on my i7, 10 years old laptop i mined 30 Koins. i will probably spend the ETH that i send to the miner and just not try it anymore.
Update of an update: Hive sucesfully went through a Hard Fork and my old laptop managed to mine some more Koin. ETH gas fees to Koin is probably not great, but...
