Fear Systemic Change

You might wonder if I've lost my mind after reading that title (or maybe even before that). If you've read any of my posts, you know that systemic change is all I'm asking for. But the systemic change that's looming on our collective horizon right now is one to fear indeed...

There's no returning to normal; we've past that point of no return. Joe Biden promised that nothing will change if he's elected, and that all he's aiming for is a "return to normalcy"; recent developments have made that impossible, there is no "normal" anymore on the other side of this perfect storm. We're in the biggest and baddest economic depression since The Great Depression, all our opportunities for letting off steam, like work, going to the gym, hang out with friends in the bar, are shut down, income and wealth inequality is worse than when the pharaohs ruled, and our modern pharaohs stamp down on protesters, violent and peaceful alike, after their police-force killed yet another innocent black man; all of the social, economic and political divides that have been actively exaggerated through decades of unadulterated neoliberalism, are now coming to a boiling point from which I see no return.

There are two polls that indicate how confusing this moment in time is to many people; one poll showed that more than 70% of Americans approve of calling in the military in order to quench the violence surrounding the current protests, yet another poll showed that an almost equal percentage thinks that the burning down of a police station is justified. This amounts to what I like to call the "shock and awe treatment" regularly used in disaster capitalism. "Never let a good crisis go to waste" is the motto for neoliberals; a crisis is not something to solve, but a moment to grab with both hands to make money off. I'll never forget the satisfied smile on the face of a Wall Street trader who saw the sunny side of the 9/11 attacks from 2001; gold prices will go crazy, this is a golden opportunity... Also the confusion, fear, anger and unrest among the people at those times is something to be grateful for; these are the perfect moments in history to adjust the system, to push through laws and regulations that wouldn't ever stand a chance in "normal" times. This is how we got the Patriot Act and the 2008 / 2009 massive bail-outs, as well as the current bail-outs for big industries.

In that light, it's scary to see a New World Order literally being planned and executed before our eyes when international and unelected institutions like The World Economic Forum, The World Bank and so on start to talk about the need for systemic change. That's the sort of change we do not need. That's the kind of change we should fear. To fully explain why, I now hand it over to James Corbett at the corbettreport. I've often said it, but while you're there, subscribe to his channel; he's truly one of the most trustworthy and honest sources on YouTube who's not afraid to discuss topics that others might hand-wave away as "crazy conspiracy theories". The wish for a New World Order isn't a conspiracy theory but the logical conclusion to capitalism's elimination-game gone global.
