I really have no idea where to start with this one. Now you probably know about my deep disdain for the PragerU disinformation channel if you've read my posts, but I just finished watching a half hour interview they did with black conservative Carol M. Swain, and they hit a new low point, something I didn't believe possible...
source: YouTube
Here's the preamble to the video:
Black Lives Matter is run by Marxist organizers. They have not been silent about their agenda to dismantle the nuclear family, transform gender/sexual identity, and force radical change. So why are so many eagerly following along? Professor Carol M. Swain, PhD sits down with Will Witt to discuss.
I don't know Professor Carol M. Swain, but she apparently is an American conservative television analyst and former professor of political science and law at Vanderbilt University. One would think that with those credentials she should know what she's talking about, but she clearly doesn't. Like right wing grifter and shill Candace Owens, Carol Swain is just another uncle Tom figure who runs through the regular right wing talking points, doing the heavy lifting for white nationalists while putting in a good word for everyone's favorite racist clown, Donald Trump. I shouldn't be as shocked as I am right now because what else could we expect from PragerU? Still, watching this interview made my stomach turn. I mean, at least when Candace Owens goes on one of her unhinged rants there's this air of a slight mental illness hanging around her that might put off some of the audience, but this black female professor spouts the same nonsense with all the credibility of a Sam Harris or Jordan Peterson. It sickens me to admit that PragerU is effective when it comes to delivering their far right propaganda. Carol Swain has bought in to, hook, line and sinker, the "cultural Marxism" conspiracy theory, so much so that she actually has the gall to advice young black people to not believe what they're taught at school. She says that America is under threat of breaking down from the inside for which she blames left wing activism, which she mistakenly identifies as Marxism; now where have I heard this before..? She says these are dangerous times, and I agree; people like her, Candace Owens, Donald Trump and the white nationalist neo-fascists they empower are that danger.
Jordan Peterson has at least the excuse that politics and law are far outside his field of expertise when he spreads lies and misinformation about the non existence of white privilege and the absence of systemic racism, but miss Swain here is a professor of political science for crying out loud. She really should know better, but I guess her conservatism is stronger than her intellectualism. Like I said, this esteemed professor blindly repeats all the standard right wing, racism inducing talking points, including the tired old 13/50 argument that blacks only comprise 13% of the population but are responsible for 50% of violent crimes. She claims, just like dimwits like Owens, Steven Crowder and Dave Rubin, that systemic racism doesn't exist anymore because of the 1964 civil rights act and the voting rights act of 1965; as if these and some other laws with the goal of counterbalancing the historical injustice done to African Americans suddenly make the system equitable. No mention of the inability of colored people to build up inter-generational wealth or the fact that white people specifically have been given land and housing on numerous occasions. She even goes so far as to mention the statistic that black people are more likely to be shot by black policemen, and she does so in the same breath in which she mentions black-on-black crime, another favorite among white supremacists; why doesn't this professor of political science and law explain that this is to be expected? Cities and states strive for their police force to be a representation of the population they police, so there will be more black cops in predominantly black neighborhoods, so yes, of course black suspects and criminals will more likely be shot by black policemen. Geez, this is so cringeworthy...
I've had enough of this, really. I dare you, dear reader, to sit through this interview; I know I almost didn't make it to the end. She does make a few valid points about misplaced white guilt, but she makes them for all the wrong reasons. So let me set that straight; no white individual should ever feel guilty for the injustice done by a system that's been built over centuries, okay? Don't do that. You're only guilty if you actively participate in prolonging or even strengthening that system, like Carol M. Swain and PragerU. She also correctly mentions that long ago the Democratic party was the more racist of the two, but that only goes to reaffirm that, much like America's perpetual foreign wars, the racially unjust socioeconomic and political system is the result of a bipartisan effort. So, watch the video, but don't believe a word in it.
