Haiti
A human rights expert said yesterday that gang violence—fueled by new smuggled weapons and ammunition—not only has not abated in Haiti but is spreading to new locations, while a costly United Nations-backed and largely US-funded international security mission lacks sufficient commitment to sustain and grow. “The humanitarian consequences are dramatic,” said the expert, who also alluded to the lack of basic supplies, the corresponding inflation, and "internally displaced persons," some 700,000, many of them children. The international body states that during the second quarter of the year, some 1,380 people were killed or injured, with some 430 kidnapped. Despite the police reinforcements that have arrived from Kenya and Jamaica, the Haitian police chief told the expert that they don´t have sufficient human resources to deal with the gang problem.
Pope Francis begins to withdraw part of his "blessing" to Milei
It is clear that Francis and Milei do not share many points, if any, but the head of the Catholic Church did not want to be used by Kirchnerism, and so he offered the right-wing leader the respect that, in principle, his condition of new president deserved. For the sake of “the benefit of the doubt”. Javier Milei continues forcing the machine with a socially costly adjustment, although a good part of Argentines continue to “bank” it. However, it is well known that Pope Francis is sensitive to those who are carrying the most complex burden on their shoulders: retirees, and those who—in general—are in the lowest stratum. Yesterday, Friday, the Argentine launched two darts at the liberal Pink House.
"Me hicieron ver una represión (en Argentina). Gente que pedía por sus derechos en la calle. Y la policía los rechazaba con gas pimienta de primera calidad, lo más caro que hay. El gobierno, en vez de pagar justicia social, pagó gas pimienta"

In the first one, without revealing names, he referred to a potential corruption case involving a minister whose identity should not be unknown in Balcarce 50. In addition, he referred with some sarcasm to the government's controversial repression towards those who recently demonstrated against Milei's decision to veto a law raising income to retirees (the president is obsessed with his “zero deficit” motto). However, while some political and media operators allied with La Libertad Avanza lashed out harshly against the Bishop of Rome, Milei's spokesman did not want to add fuel to the fire when questioned about it. Strange thing. “It is the opinion of Pope Francis, which we listen to and reflect on. We do not have to share his vision on some issues. We have total respect,” said Manuel Adorni.
Update on the violence crisis in Sinaloa
Yesterday, Friday, the Sinaloa state prosecutor's office opened five investigation files for the discovery of six bodies, in the continuation of an unstoppable wave of violence which had its worst manifestations in the towns of Culiacán—the state capital—, Badiraguato, Eldorado and Novalato. Nine stolen vehicles and six kidnappings were also reported. Then, in the early hours of today, the handcuffed, tortured, and shot body of a man was found on a highway south of Culiacán. Meanwhile, an important operative of the group loyal to “El Chapo” Guzmán's sons was captured by the Army. Federal forces also rescued a female Bengal tiger, which was kept as a pet in the home of some important criminal leader in the Sinaloa town of Elota.
