There's a certain sticker pack, Qoobee agapi, I'm very fond of. It is a small, gullible looking dinosaur who's carefree and likes to express his emotions quite visually. Seeing nitro users using their custom emojis, I thought, hey, can't I use Qoobee emojis if I take nitro too? And it turned out I could! I decided immediately then without further hesitation.

Since I've opted for discord nitro, I've been experimenting with the perks it comes with, namely custom emojis and animated profile photos. Actually the first thing I did was made a gif profile photo, from a favorite film of mine *Apocalypse Now*. ![](https://media.giphy.com/media/3DmF3htsBEAiU1RozL/giphy.gif) I've then joined a bunch of servers to have access to their emojis to use anywhere (perk of nitro) and to my relief, almost all of Qoobee emojis were already added to a server. But I've also wanted to make my custom emojis, to use them in Bdcommunity discord server and also in CineTV. my emoji.gif

So far, the experience of Nitro has been fun and rewarding. I'm pretty sure I'll have most out of the subscription and take it again the next year. ---------------------- While I was creating emojis, I made a few on requests and wanted to share the process of how I do it. Let me walk you thorough the creation of a certain emoji requested by @rehan12 , *Ki kharap*, an expression a frequent member of BDC @Shahinaubl uses, which is hard to grasp if you're not a native Bengali speaker. I'd say, they are similar to "Gosh, you didn't!" exclamation of teen girls in the old 80's movies! @zayedsakib proposed the core idea, which is a pepe emoji. Pepe is holding a placard, "simp" is written on it. I wanted to make it animated and also change the writings to *Ki kharap* in bengali. For emoji creations to even basic photo resizing, I use Adobe Photoshop. Mostly because using it is like a second nature to me due to my profession. Many people may not know, photoshop has video timeline too (with a limited video editing capabilities) and you can also create frame animation where the traditional frame-by-frame drawn animation can be produced digitally. The timeline window is at the bottom of Photoshop but it is not turned on by default. You have to go to Menu - window - Timeline to activate it.

Now please note that, ***while I'm using Photoshop, the same can be done in any frame-by-frame editor***, the principal is the same. Like, https://www.gifpal.com/ for example. It's a free online tool. So the first thing you should consider is the resolution. Discord's ideal resolution for emojis is 128x128, you can go bigger but the size limit is 256KB, so keeping it small is better in my opinion. Now, how many frames you want to use. Standard film fps is 24, that means each second has 24 static frames that gives the illusion of movement. For gifs and emojis, that finesse isn't required, you can go way lower, like 10-12 fps. Take a look at my timeline.

See, there are 16 frames altogether in this emoji. The first 7 are static, because I wanted it to give it some screen time. And the next few frames were used to enlarge the text gradually. When all 16 frames are played back, they look like this —

See? Not too hard, eh? And did you grasp what this means? You can create 2d animated cartoons like this if you want to! 😏 *By the way, if you're using photoshop, you have to use Export - save for web (legacy) and use the gif menu there, otherwise, the default saving function wont give you an animated gif.* For gifpal, they'll take care all of that.
