The Importance of Character Education to Shape Children's Personality

SOURCE

Character education is the provision of views on various types of life values, such as honesty, intelligence, caring, responsibility, truth, beauty, kindness, and faith. There are two things that must be discussed first in character education, those two things are two key words, namely education and character.

The first is education, in the study of education there are a number of educational domains, such as intellectual education, skills education, attitude education, and character education itself.

And the second is character, namely things that are defined as character; character psychological, moral or character traits that distinguish one person from another. In this article I want to discuss some about character education, starting from the principles, and values that should be taught in character education.

Principles of character education.

Character education in schools requires and prioritizes some basic principles that are easily understood by students and by every individual working in the educational environment itself. Here are some basic principles that we can use in implementing character education in schools, or other environment.

  • Character Education is determined by what you will do, not what you say or what you believe
  • Never take the bad behavior of others as a benchmark for yourself. You can choose more benchmarks from them
  • Every decision we make will be very decisive and will also become a person like you in the future.
  • Good character signifies that, every good thing is born from good ways too.

Values in character education.

Character education is not only limited to education about character, but also includes a variety of important and main values in life. These values will continue to be useful for the future of the child.
