Panchantra is ancient Indian collection of fables in Sanskrit. I love to read story book from mh childhood and Panchantra is one of my favorite. Everh story has a learning. The stories are simple and very effective and good sources of learning.
Panchantra is a combination of two words Panch and Tatra - Panch means Five and Tantra means Parts or System. The collection is divided into five parts.
Lets start the story (in my words and in my style, I have make some changes like name, places etc) -
The Monkey and the The Log
The people's of Rameshwar village decided to build a Temple so one place in outskirts of the village was choosen and the work stated in full swing.
It was the time of summer and the weather was too hot.
Workmen and the carpenters used to go home fornthe lunch every day.
One day as usual the carpenter goes to his home for lunch. He was working on cutting of a large wooden log with his hand saw. As the sawing was not completed yet they put a wedge into it to prevent the closing of the log.
Just after they leave the place one group of monkeys comes to that place. The monkys start playing on the trees and the half built structure.
One monkey sit on the half split log, put his legs into the gap and start pulling the wedge with his hands.
All of a sudden the wedge come out from the gap and the log
Closed in. The legs of the monkey get trapped into the gap and The poor monkey died.
